| . Chapter 12 "Pregnant!" Ned yelled walking into the room and almost dropping the ice tea. "Alexis Ashton you better not be pregnant." Emily and Alexis just stared at him in complete silence. After a few moments the silence was broken by a small babies cry. "Tommy� awake, is it okay if I go and getting him up." Emily asked quickly wanting to be anywhere but there. Alexis turned to her. "Yea that would be great Emily." Ned watched as Emily made her way up the stairs. "You better not be pregnant with Jax� baby, because if you are Alexis all bets are off." Ned yelled loudly. Alexis turned towards him and gave him a look that could kill. "First of all you need to keep your voice down. Secondly you�ve got a lot of nerve accusing me of being pregnant with Jax� child, how dare you." "I don�t hear you denying it." Ned said angrily but in a quite tone. "That�s because a remark like that doesn�t dignify an answer. I told you repeatedly that Jax and I never slept together. But you know what as far as I care you can think what you like." Alexis told him straight out. Ned was about to say something when he caught the sight of Kristin out of the corner of his eye. "Hey sweetheart are the cartoons over?" Ned asked her as he picked her up. "Yes." Kristin said. "What are you and mommy fighting about?" Alexis walked over to them. "Oh Kristin your daddy and I weren�t fighting we were just discussing something, I guess a little to loud if you heard us." She took Kristin from Ned. "You know what? Emily is upstairs with Tommy what do you say we go up and see what they�re doing?" "Okay mommy." "You never answered my question Alexis." Ned told her firmly. Alexis looked at him sideways. "Don�t give me that look Alexis like you have no idea what I am talking about. Are you pregnant or not?" "What if I am you already think the baby is Jax� and it�s not" Alexis said very evasive. "Is the one your holding his?" Ned asked shocking Alexis. "You know it�s times like this Ned that I don�t know how we ever mange to stay together. You�ve got some balls to ask me that. You can think what you want about me but question your own child that�s low, even for a person who can be a coldhearted bastard like yourself." Ned watched Alexis walk up the stairs. He knew he crossed the line with his last comment and he if could he�d take it back. He walked over to the front door and opened it. There was never a doubt in his mind, that Kristin was his, and he knew the only reason he even said it was to get to Alexis. "I�m sorry Alexis," He said walking out the door. !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Emily was standing in Tommy� room holding him up in the air. "Wow I can�t believe how fast you�ve grown. Before long you�ll be chasing the girls on the playground at school." "Oh heavens for bid. I want my little angel to stay just that, little." Alexis said walking into the room with Kristin. Emily put Tommy down on the floor. "I�m sorry about what happened before. I hope Ned isn�t to mad at you. I heard you guys fighting but I tried not to listen." "Don�t worry about Emily, everything�s going to be fine. At least I hope it is." Alexis said hugging her. "I do know. Ned thinks you�re pregnant and you should have told him the truth." Emily told her. "Come here Em. Sit with me." Alexis said pulling her over to the bed. "The truth is you asked me not to tell anyone you were pregnant and I promised you I wouldn�t." "Yea but now Ned thinks you�re pregnant and he didn�t seem to happy about it." Emily said with tears in her eyes. "I love you guys and I hate to be the reason you�re fighting." "Listen to me closely Emily. Ned and I are not fighting because of you. And if him thinking that I�m pregnant helps you keep the truth from your family until you know how to tell them, well so be it. After today Ned Ashton deserves everything he gets." Alexis tells her looking out the bedroom window and watching Ned� car pull out of the driveway. "Thanks Alexis and I promise to tell Lucky soon so you can tell Ned the truth." Emily says looking down at her watch. "Oh no I�m late, I�ve got to go I told Liz I�d meet her for an early dinner at the Grill. I�ll talk to you later." !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Later on that night Alexis is in bed going over some files, when Ned walks in carrying something behind his back. Alexis looks up at him over her glasses. "Did you need something?" Ned walks over to her and pulls out a dozen roses from behind his back. "Yea to give you these and to tell you I�m sorry." Alexis smiled and took the flowers from him. "Thank you they�re lovely." She takes off her glasses and lays them on the nightstand. "And just what exactly are you sorry about?" Ned sits down on the bed next to her. "For everything but mostly for my comment about Kristin. I love that little girl Alexis, she Tommy and you are my world." Tears begin to swell up in his eyes. "I know she�s mine and I�ve never thought otherwise." "You did tonight." "No Alexis I didn�t" he takes his hand and wipes the tears from her face. "I only said that to annoy you. It was a cold-hearted thing to say and I know it. I don�t even know why I said it and as soon as it came out of my mouth I regretted it." Alexis leans forward and kisses him lightly on his lips. "Just for the record Kristin is your daughter and I see it every time I look at her. Every time I watch you play with her. Every time a sarcastic thought comes out of her mouth." Ned laughs. "I don�t know how to make you believe me but Jax and I never ever slept together. The night you walked in on us would have been the first time." "Would you rather be with him then me?" Ned asked. Alexis rubbed the side of his face. "No. Do I have feelings for him? Yes. Is there something that is making me drawn to him? Yes. Do I know what it is? No." Ned starts to get up but Alexis stops him. "I love you Ned Ashton with all my heart and I am so sorry that I almost betrayed you." "I want you to stay away from him." Ned said in a pleading manner. Alexis kissed the side of his face. "I�ll stay away from Jax if you keep your distance from Julia." Ned grabbed Alexis and pulled her into a deep kiss. "Julia and I never slept together." "I believe you." Alexis said. "I guess that makes you a better person then me." Ned said. "Either that or a real gullible one." Alexis stated and Ned laughed. Ned hugged her tightly. "How did you ever find out about Julia?" "She told me." "What?" Ned asked annoyed. "Yea she came into my office the next morning and told me all about it. She even went into detail about how much you wanted her, and how if she didn�t wait as long as she did to give you the key to her room, things would have gone a lot further then they did." "The nerve of that woman. Why didn�t you call me on it?" Ned asked very curiously. "Because things between us weren�t going well and I felt like I�d be a hypocrite if I did." Alexis answered looking down. Ned picked up her face. "What do you mean hypocrite?" Alexis took a deep breath. "You remember when you asked me why Jax disappeared?" "Yea and you told me you didn�t know why he left town." Ned said. "Well I�m not really sure why he did exactly, but I have a good idea." Alexis said playing with her wedding ring. "The night before that, Jax and I almost sleep together. The only reason we didn�t was because you came home." Ned just looked at her without so much as word. He�s faces was blank and she couldn�t even read his thoughts. "Say something, please Ned say something anything." Alexis pleaded. Ned got up off the bed and took a deep breath. "What do you want me to say?" Alexis got up and placed her arms around him. "What ever it is you feel." Ned pulled her close to him. "I suppose I should be shocked and hurt and trust me in a way I am. It�s just that when I saw you in Jax� arms in nothing but a towel, I knew that it wasn�t the first time you had been with him. I don�t know what it was about that moment but something told me this has happened before." "If it helps any it was the only other time that it almost happened, I swear." Alexis said as Ned wiped her tears away. "Have you and Julia ever come close to sleeping together besides that one night?" "No, and if I weren�t drunk it would have never gone that far. Now I�m not saying being drunk is an excuse for what I did but it didn�t help matters that�s for sure." "Right about now I just wish we could go back to the cabin, but I know that wouldn�t solve anything." Alexis said through her tears. "You know it�s late and we should really get some sleep. It�s going to be a long day tomorrow." Ned said kissing her on the forehead and heading towards the door. "Ned wait." Alexis said almost inaudible. "Stay with me please. I don�t want to spend another night alone." Ned walked up to her and held her. "I don�t want to spend another night without you either." Ned pulled Alexis over to the bed and tucked her in. He took off his shoes and shirt and crawled into bed next to her. She rolled over and placed her head on his chest, as he played with her hair. "I love you Ned Ashton." Alexis said kissing his chest. "I love you too Alexis Davis Ashton and that will never change." |
