. Chapter one Alexis Ashton walked into her front door after a long hard day at the office and was greeted by Kristin. "Mommy, mommy I missed you so much" Kristin yelled as she jumped up on her. "Well I missed you too." She said as she hugged her little one and asked her where Tommy was. "He�s upstairs sleeping" Ned stated coldly as he walk over to his wife giving her a slight kiss hello. "Another late night at the office I see" "I had a lot of paperwork to get through� she said quietly knowing he wasn�t happy with the time of night it was. "Shouldn�t Kristin be in bed as well" she stated. "We should all be in bed at this time of the night" Ned said angrily. "She wanted her mommy and I told her she could wait up for you. I had no idea you�d be in this late" He takes her from Alexis and heads upstairs. "Come on sweetie daddy will tuck you in." Alexis threw her stuff on to the table and then pounced her body down onto the couch. She knew Ned would be even more upset with her if she didn�t come right up but she really wasn�t in the mood for yet another fight. @@@ About two hours later Ned came downstairs in his bathrobe. He looked down at Alexis and she just stared at him. "I know you�re busy but there is no excuse for you to be coming in at 2 in the morning" Ned said with a very cold tone. Alexis threw her legs off the couch and motioned for him to sit down. Ned just shook his head and walked into the kitchen to get something to drink. Alexis got up and followed him. "I�m sorry I�m late, it won�t happen again." She said to him as she wrapped her arms around his waist. "Alexis I love you and I really don�t know what�s going on between the two of us anymore" He kissed her forehead and walked back into the living room. Alexis watched as he sat on the couch. She had no idea of how to answer him because she herself didn�t know the answer to that. "Where did we go wrong?" Ned asked as Alexis stood over him. "I don�t know, it�s like some how we�ve grown apart." She stated as she sat down next to him and held his hands. "How do we fix it?" He asked looking into her eyes. "You Alexis Ashton are my life, but things have got to change." "I know." She said as she laid her head against his chest. "I do love you Ned Ashton." "And I love you." He said as he played with her hair. "What we need to do is figure out a way to go back to the place where we were both happy." "Ned I am happy as long as I�m with you" Alexis said as she looked up and into his eyes. Ned just smiled down on her and then crashed his lips against hers. Things started to escalate and before long he was picking her up and carrying her off to bed. @@@ Ned and Alexis have been lying in bed now for hours and neither one spoke. Alexis couldn�t stand the silence any more and got out of bed. Ned just watched her as she put on his robe, which was lying on the floor, and headed out the door. He wanted to get up and stop her but something was holding him back. After she shut the door behind her Ned wanted to kick himself in the teeth. He just spent two hours lying in bed with his wife making love to her several times and he allowed her to leave without even a word. Meanwhile Alexis went into the kitchen and made herself a glass of warm milk. She looked up at the clock and was shocked to see that it was almost 5:30. "Great the kids will be up soon, I need to be in court in less then 4 hours and I haven�t gotten any sleep." She yelled before taking a sip of her milk and then pouring it down the drain. "I�m sorry." Ned said from behind her startling her. "We need to talk I mean really talk." Alexis put her hands over her face and began to cry. "I can�t do this any more Ned, I just can�t do it." Ned walked over to her and held her. "I think what we need to do is get away for a few days" "Ned I can�t leave now I�m in the middle of two different cases and��.." "And nothing" He said firmly cutting her off. "We need to talk, away from here and away from the kids. What you need to do while you�re at work is find someone who can take over things for you a few days" "Ned I just can�t leave like that" Alexis said pleading with him. "If our marriage means anything to you Alexis Ashton you�ll be packed and ready to go first thing tomorrow morning." Ned yelled loud enough to wake up Tommy. "What about the kids?" Alexis asked in frustration. "Don�t worry about anything other then being packed and ready to go. I�ll take care of the kids and the reservations." Ned yelled while running up stairs to get Tommy. Alexis just threw herself back against the fridge. "Sounds like the perfect getaway" She said out loud to herself before picking up the phone and waking her secretary. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ "As time stood still" Chapter two J Alexis was in her office making arrangements to go away with Ned for the weekend. She had no idea how on earth she was going to accomplish this and the more she looked at the stack of papers on her desk the further she knew she�d fall behind. She just had to keep reminding her self that her marriage was on the line. She was so frustrated and disoriented that she spilled her coffee all over her desk. "Having a bad day?" Julia asked leaning against Alexis�s office door. "Well hello Julia, what can I do for you?" Alexis asked trying to be polite but really could care less why she was there. "I wanted to talk to you about Ned" Julia stated as she sat down in the chair across from Alexis. "You want to talk to me about my husband" Alexis asked liked the woman had gall. "Yes, I do" Julia said smiling just to piss Alexis off. "You have some nerve coming to me to talk about Ned, Julia!" Alexis yelled as Ned knocked on her door. "Ned, what are you doing here?" "I came to see my wife." He said leaning over her desk kissing her. "Do you have a problem with that?" "No not at all, I love when you come and visit me in the middle of the day." Alexis said shocked to see him. He hasn�t just stopped by to see her in the longest time. "Well hello Julia" Ned said rather coldly which threw Alexis off balance. "What are you doing here?" "I just stopped by to see if Alexis would like to join me for lunch." Julia said almost flirting with him. "But I see she�s busy so I guess we�ll have to do it another time. I�ll catch you later Alexis" She stated as she walked out the door. Alexis smirked at her as she walked out of her office. She knew the real reason she was there. She wanted to once again throw what almost happened between her and Ned in her face. Ned watched Julia leave and then turned his attention back to Alexis. He kissed her fully on the lips. All along wondering what Julia was really doing there. "Shouldn�t you be downstairs making reservations?" Alexis asked after breaking the kiss. "I took care of everything." Ned said as he pulled her into an even deeper kiss. "Emily and Lucky have agreed to watch the kids." "Ned you shouldn�t have done that" Alexis stated in a low tone. "Emily and Lucky haven�t even been married for two months and they don�t need two kids around for the weekend." "Emily was happy to do it." Ned said biting her neck and driving her crazy. "You know there is no way I�m going to be able to get out of here tomorrow morning if you don�t stop doing that" Alexis stated, barely being able to spit it out. Ned�s hands began to explore her body, and before she knew it he had lifted her up placing her on her desk. Ned threw the stuff off her desk and onto the floor before lying her back onto it. She grabbed his tie and started to undo it as his hands found the buttons on her blouse. He kissed down her neck while he�s hand slid up her skirt to remove her underwear. "Ned we can�t do this here" She moaned. "Why not?" he asked as he lifted her body against his dropping her slowly onto the floor with him. "Someone could walk in" She answered not really caring at this point if they did. He was driving her completely insane with his tongue and fingers. "So let them." Ned said as they began to make love on her office floor. @@@ Ned and Alexis were so lost in each other as they made love. They were at this point and time the only two people alive. It�s like some how time had stood still. Neither of them heard a knock on the door that was left open. There stood Jax once again watching the woman he loves making love to her husband. He couldn�t believe his eyes. It was like a still nightmare coming back to haunt him. His mind raced back to that night. ***Flashback*** Jax carries Alexis into his room and shuts the door behind him. He throws her down unto the bed and begins to undo his pants. She sits up and kisses his chest with more passion then she ever thought possible. He discards his pants and bends down in front of her to kiss her. Alexis jumps and pushes him back when she hears Ned come through the front door. Ned: (yelling from the living room) Sweetheart where are you, I have a surprise for you. Alexis: Oh god Ned' home. (She quickly gets up and turns to Jax) Don't you dare say a thing to him about this! Alexis leaves the room and heads to her own to take a shower, Jax meanwhile falls unto his bed and sighs in frustration. ***End flashback*** Jax closes his eyes and then lends against her door before taking off. He has to tell Alexis how he really feels about her but confronting her in front of Ned he knew wouldn�t be a good idea. ~~~~~~~ "As time stood still" Chapter 3 It�s early morning when Alexis rolls over into bed and finds it empty. "Ned sweetheart where are you?" Alexis mumbled. "I�m in the bathroom, I�ll be right out." Ned yelled as Alexis rolled back over and closed her eyes. A few moments later Ned walked out of the bathroom to once again find Alexis sound asleep. He just laughed, if there was nothing Alexis didn�t like to do it was get up in the morning, and after all this years it�s nice to know something�s never change. "Come on sweetie it�s time to get up." Ned said lovingly. "Just Five more minutes." She said pulling the sheets up over her head. "Oh no you don�t your not going to hide from me. Besides you should know by now when I say it�s time to get up I mean it�s time to get up." Ned stated as he pulled the sheets off of her and began to tickle her. "Ned stop it" Alexis yelled repeatedly. "You know I hate when you do that" "I know, that�s why I do it" Ned said as he flashed his dimples, something mind you that Alexis couldn�t refuse. "So are you going to get up or what?" Alexis just looked at him a moment, before pulling him down on top of her and into a deep emotional kiss. "Actually I was thinking that you need to return to bed." She said seductively knowing that he�d take the bait. "Well I guess five more minutes wouldn�t hurt anything." He said before pulling the sheets back over them. @@@ About an hour later Ned slid out of bed and got the kids ready. He dressed them and packed their things. "Okay you two now you have to promise me you�re both going to be good for Emily and Lucky." Ned told his kids as he kissed them good bye. "Don�t you worry about a thing daddy, they�ll be just fine." Emily said taking Tommy from him. "Just enjoy the piece and quite for a change." Lucky added. "I have ever intention of doing so" Ned replied as he sent them on there way. @@@ Alexis rolled over once again to find Ned� side of the bed empty. She looked up and noticed the time. "Damn Emily is going to be here any minute now and the kids aren�t even ready to go." She stated out loud as she quickly got out of bed and put on her robe. "Anyone ever tell you, you worry to much?" Ned asked as he placed his arms around her waist. "Ned I need to get the kids ready���" Alexis began to say as Ned cut her off with a kiss. "The kids are gone. Emily and Lucky were already here." Ned said his lips still on hers. "Why didn�t you wake me?" Alexis asked. "Because you looked so peaceful and content." Ned answered kissing her neck. "Why don�t you take a shower so we can get out of here?" "Only on two conditions." Alexis said pulling his face towards her forcing him to look into her eyes. "And what conditions would those be?" Ned asked flashing his dimples. "One that you tell me where we are going." She said biting the bottom of her lip. "Sorry can�t do that, it�s a secret." Ned whispered. "And your second demand?" "That you take a shower with me." Alexis said brushing her lips against his and walking off towards the bathroom. "Now that I can do!" he says eagerly running up to her and pinching her bottom. @@@ A few hours later Ned and Alexis arrive at the cabin. "Ned I can�t believe you brought me here!" A shocked Alexis stated excitedly. "Why not after all this is the same cabin we got married in, it�s the same cabin we spent our honeymoon in." Ned said grabbing her face with both his hands and kissing her. "And if I�m not wrong this is also the same cabin Thomas was conceived in." he added seductively. "My point exactly." She said wrapping her arms around his waist. "You said you wanted to get away so we could talk. How much talking do you think we�d do here?" She added brushing her lips against his. "I didn�t say where we had to talk, just that we needed time to find each other again." He said picking her up, his lips still against hers, and carrying her over to the couch. "Not that I don�t love the idea of spending the entire weekend in bed with you but how much talking do you actually think we�d do?" Alexis asked while biting his ear. "So fine why don�t we go and take a walk" Ned said pulling her up to her feet. "Ned it�s freezing out there." Alexis said just shriving at the thought. Ned laughed at her before handing her, her coat. "Alexis it�s like 70 degrees out there I�d hardly call that cold. Besides it�ll give you a reason to cuddle up to me." "Now that sounds good." She states before putting on her coat and kissing him. Ned takes Alexis� hand in his own and they head out the door. @@@ Jasper Jax has just entered his Penthouse. He looks around and sighs before sitting down onto the couch. "I don�t know why I even insist on keeping this place." He closes his eyes and can�t help but think about all the nights him and Alexis sat on this very couch eating popcorn and talking about nothing really important at all. "Why didn�t I ever tell her how I really felt about her when we were married. Being married to her was one of the best things that ever happened to me, and I blew it by letting her go without a fight." He sighs again and throws his head back hard against the couch. "Not once but twice." ~~~~~~~ Chapter 4 J Ned and Alexis had been walking what seemed like hours. They were holding hands like two school kids and laughing so hard at everything in sight. "Hey this looks like a good place to sit and rest a while." Ned said seeing how exhausted Alexis was. "Oh wait I can see a pond just a few feet away, do you mind if we sit over there?" Alexis asked with so much enthusiasm that he couldn�t say anything but yes. They walked over to the pond and sat down along the edge. Taking off their shoes and placing there feet over the side. Alexis pulled her feet out of the water quickly and Ned laughed "Damn that water�s cold." "Alexis Ashton you think it�s cold out here, what made you think the water would be any warmer?" She pushes him slightly. "You better be careful Ashton or I might just push you harder next time." "Oh really" Ned says getting up and grabbing her. "What makes you think I wouldn�t just take you with me? Or better yet just throw you in the pond?" Alexis looks up at him. "You wouldn�t dare!" "Never dare a Quatermaine my dear." And with that he picked her up and threw her into the water. Coming up from under the water and yelling at the top of her lungs. "Ned Ashton you are going to pay for that." Ned laughs at her "Oh man it�s cold." "Well then come on out and I�ll warm you up." Ned says laughing so hard he almost lost his balance. "How about you coming in here and warming me up." Alexis said as she grabbed his arm and pulled him in. Ned came out from under the water and shook his head. He grabbed Alexis and kissed her purple lips quickly. "Your absolute right my dear it is cold!" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Jax was just about to go upstairs and finish unpacking when someone knocked on the door. "Who the heck can that be? I don�t recall telling anyone I was coming back to town." He said out loud. "Oh well I guess there�s only one way to find out." And with that he opened the door to find Julia on the other side. "Well are you just going to stand there with your mouth open Jax or are you going to let me in?" Julia asked in a very sexy tone. "Oh I�m sorry, please do come in. Can I get you something to drink?" Jax asked walking over to the mini bar and pouring himself a glass of wine. "Um yes please that would be nice. I�ll have what ever you�re having." Jax hands Julia a glass of wine. "So what brings you by Julia?" Taking a sip of her wine before answering him. "Well actually I was wondering what brought you back to Port Charles? I mean the last thing I heard you had left town without even a goodbye to anyone." She takes another sip of wine before looking into his eyes. "Not even your latest conquest." Jax looked at her questionable. "You know Chloe Morgan." She slowly added. "Unless of course there was another woman in your heart or bed at the time?" Julia said while rubbing her hand along his inner thigh. "Um no there was no other woman in my heart or bed other then Chloe at the time Julia." Jax stated way to quickly while getting up and pouring him self another glass of wine, peaking her interest. "My my Jax did you perhaps have another woman lying in your bed other then Chloe, like say for example your wife?" Julia asked laughing. Her face suddenly turned to shock as Jax� went pale. "Alexis and I are friends nothing more Julia! Now if you�ll excuse me I have packing to do." Jax said with a raised voice, while grabbing her arm and practically throwing her out the door. "Oh come on Jax do tell?" "Good day Julia!" Jax yelled slamming the door behind her. Julia just stood outside his door and began to laugh. "Well well it seems like Jasper has a thing for his ex-wife. I wonder just how far things between them got? Maybe she not Chloe is the real reason he left?" The elevator opens and Julia walks in. "Time will tell." She laughs even harder as the door closes. ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Alexis is in the bathroom taking a shower, while Ned has gathered some firewood from out front and is building a fire. After getting the fire going Ned decides to join Alexis. He slips into the shower behind her and grabs the bar of soap before placing his arms around her waist. "I was wondering how long you were planning on being." She teased him while leaning back and kissing his neck. "I wasn�t aware you were waiting for me to join you or I wouldn�t have taken so long." He says while kissing her neck and running his hands and soap even lower down the front of her causing her to wiggle and moan. Alexis turned in his arms to face him. She looked into his eyes with so much passion and love. "Thank you so much." "For what?" He asked while rubbing her back with soap. Alexis took the bra of soap from him and began to wash his chest. "For everything." She said before kissing him lightly on the lips. "For forcing me to go away with you." She glided her lips down along his cheekbone. "For loving me." She kissed his lips slightly again. "And mostly for not giving up on us." "Never!" He added kissing her deeply and then pushing her back. "I would never give up on us! I love you and our children way to much to end it all without a fight!" Alexis kisses him hard. He pulls her tight and spins her around pressing her soapy body against the cold, wet tiles of the shower wall. The warm water washing over their hot bodies as they make love. ~~~~~~~ Chapter 5 J The next day Emily and Lucky decided to take the kids to the park. Emily loved having the kids for the weekend and was kinda sad that Ned and Alexis were do home later that day. Lucky on the hand was glad, not that he didn�t love having the children around, it�s just the more time Emily spent with them the more she talked about having her own children. Lucky wanted to have children someday just not right now. "Come back here Tommy!" Emily yelled while getting up off the blanket to catch him after he ran off, for like the fifth time in the last thirty minutes. Lucky just laughed at them as she finally caught up with him. "He�s a fast little bugger isn�t he?" "Yes way to fast." Emily said out of breath. "Come on guys what do you say we eat lunch?" "I�m not hungry." Kristin said. "When�s mommy and daddy coming home?" "You know what I left the punch in the car. I�ll be right back." Lucky said while getting up and kissing the top of Emily� head. Emily placed Kristin on her lap. "Your mommy and daddy will be home in time to tuck you into bed tonight, I promise." As Emily was talking to Kristin, Tommy got up and ran off again. "Oh darn it Tommy get back here!" Emily yelled while placing Kristin down on the blanket. "You stay right here I�m going to get your brother." "Okay." Kristin said and then picked up her ball. Kristin was throwing her ball up into the air and it flew behind her so she ran after it. "Does this belong to you?" A man asked handing Kristin the ball. "Yes." She said shyly. "Kristin, Kristin where are you?" Emily yelled while walking back to the blanket with Tommy in her arms. "I think someone�s looking for you." The strange man replied. The little girl ran off as the man watched her. He couldn�t place it but there was something about her that he just couldn�t get out of his head. She was the cutest little girl he thought to himself. "Jax I didn�t know you were in town?" Emily said excited to see him. "I got into town a few days ago. I had some unfinished business that I needed to take care of." He stated looking down not wanting her to know the real reason he came back to Port Charles. "Well Lucky the kids and I are just about to have some lunch. Would you like to join us?" Emily asked while still holding Tommy and Kristin was now hiding behind her legs. "Now Emily Quatermaine I don�t recall you having kids when I left town." Jax teased. "So I�d say by their ages they�re either adopted or your babysitting. Either way I�d love to join you for lunch." Emily took his hand and walked him back over to the blanket. "Well no you�re right they aren�t my kids and it�s Emily Spencer now." She said while showing off her wedding ring. "So you and Lucky got married well congratulations." He said while giving her a big hug. "Well I�ve got the juice." Lucky stated while walking over to them. "Jax hi, I didn�t know you were in town." "Yea well that seems to be the senses." Jax said while Emily laughed. Lucky put the juice down and looked around. "Okay what did you do with the cups Kristin?" "They�re right here." Emily said. Jax looked at the little girl with even more amazement at the mention of her name. Now he knew why he couldn�t get her face out of his head, she looked just like her Mother. "So these are Ned and Alexis� kids I take it?" Jax asked already knowing the answer. "The little one looks just like Ned." "That he does." Emily added. "Jax I�d like you to meet Kristin Lila and Thomas Edward." "Wow it�s amazing how big Kristin is." Jax said looking at her. "The last time I saw you, you were just a little baby." "You knew me when I was a baby?" Kristin asked. "I sure did. Your mommy and daddy and I were all good friends when you were born." Jax informed the shy little girl. "What really amazes me is the fact that they�re brother and sister and they don�t look all that much alike." Emily stated. "Kristin looks just like Alexis while Tommy is the spitting image of Ned. Grandfather keeps telling Ned that Kristin probably isn�t even his." Jax laughs slightly. "That sounds like Edward for ya. So I take it after all these years he�s still not over the fact that Ned married a Cassidine?" "Not at all!" Lucky added. "He still hates the Cassidines with a passion. And here Emily wants us to have Christmas dinner this year at our house. I keep telling her she�s crazy." Jax just laughs as Emily hits him upside the head. @@@ Meanwhile back at the cabin Ned and Alexis are curled up on a blanket sitting it front of the fireplace, drinking wine. Alexis is leaning back onto Ned and he has his hands wrap around the front of her. The weekend is almost over and they really haven�t done much talking but in light of that they are closer now then they have been in months. "I don�t want to go home." Alexis says in a child like voice. Ned begins to kiss her neck. "You sound just like Kristin when she doesn�t want to go to bed." She laughed as he rubs the side of her face. He tucks a strand of hair behind her ear and nibbles on it, knowing just what effect it has on her. "Let�s not talk about the kids or going home. We still have a few more hours before we even have to think about leaving." Alexis moans and places her head further back on him as he plays with her ear. "Ned can you promise me something?" "What�s that?" He asked while taking his hand and lightly rubbing her neck. Grabbing his hand and bringing it up to her mouth to kiss it. "That we come here more often." She turns slightly in his arms as to look into his eyes. "I mean I don�t want to wait until things get so bad between us that we need to�.." Ned cuts her off with a kiss. "I promise." Smiling at him and starring into his eyes. "Thank you." "You are so beautiful, you know you still take my breath away" he tells her oh so lovingly before pinning her body beneath his and making love to her.
