Chapter 5

"Lois what is this all about anyway? Are you really
upset about everything you say or are you just upset
to see me moving on after all these years?"

"Ned I am shocked you would even think that of me. I
am happy for you and Alexis. I just want to let you
know that I still have feelings for you. I think that
is only far. That way you will know for sure that you
are over me and ready to move on with Alexis."
Ned shook his head with disbelief. "Of course I am
ready to move on. I love Alexis. I want to be with
her."

"Who are you trying to convince, me or yourself."?
Lois said matter of factly.

"You are so good at that. Taking peoples words and
making them something completely different." Ned moved
past Lois and got himself a drink of water.
"Ned I love you, I always have and always will. I was
stupid to walk out on you so many years ago. I was
young and know I have grown-up. Please give me another
chance." Lois said moving closer to Ned and taking his
hand in hers.

"Lois please. I am over you. I am moving on." Ned
said taking his hand back.
For awhile the two of them just sat in the Gatehouse
not talking. Finally Lois looked up. "Alexis isn't
your type at all. She works too much."
"What?" Ned said confused. "How do you know what my
'type' is? And what is that old saying anyway?
Opposites attract."

Lois started laughing. "I am just saying that you two
don't seem to...mesh well together."
"Lois you are crazy. I love Alexis and no matter what
you say or do I won't stop loving her. We are going to
get married in like four months."
"I thought you didn't have anything planned."
"Well we have a date and everything. That is the big
thing. Why am I telling you all this anyway? You are
trying to break us up!" Ned said getting up from his
sit.

"I'm not trying to break you up. I just want to have
a chance to have my family back. I think I deserve
that, don't you?" Lois asked starting to get upset.
"Lois you had your chance. I didn't want you to take
our daughter and move to Brooklyn, you did that on
your own. I tried to get you back, but you resisted.
And finally we never were a family. You left before we
could be." Ned said getting upset.

"Ned. That is my point I left you. You wanted to be a
family, I am letting you have that chance know." Lois
said starting to cry.
"I am going to have a family, with Alexis." Ned said
in a stern voice.
"Do you really think that you are over me Ned?" Lois
asked.

"Yes." Ned said calming down.
"Then prove it to me. Kiss me and say you don't feel
anything." Lois said moving in for the kill.
"Lois that is nuts. I am not doing that." Ned got cut
off by the touch of Lois' lips on his, they were
kissing. All of a sudden the door opened and in walked
Alexis and Brooke Lynn, back from their trip to the
park. Ned pulled away from Lois just in time to see
Alexis' face before she ran out the door again.
"Alexis! Alexis come back!" Ned yelled.
"Say you didn't feel anything Ned. Look me in the
eyes and tell me you didn't feel what I felt when we
kissed.

Ned looked down at his daughter with a confused look
on her face and then up at his ex-wife. "I didn't feel
anything. All I feel is pain because I just hurt the
woman I love. I have to go after her. I'm sorry Lois
it is over." With that Ned was out the door.
"Oh Ned you are so wrong. This isn't over until you
and I are back together." Lois whispered to herself.
