Chapter 2 "Lois are you here?" Ned asked opening the door to his old house. "Daddy." Brooke Lynn yelled running into Ned's arms. "Hi there princess. Where is your mom?" "She's upstairs. Are you surprised to see me?" Brooke Lynn asked with a huge grin on her face. "I sure am. I am going to go upstairs and see your mommy. I will be right back." Ned said putting Brooke Lynn down. As Ned started up the stairs Brooke Lynn ran up behind him. "Is Alexis coming?" Ned smiled. Brooke Lynn had become very fond of Alexis in the past few months. "No not tonight. Maybe you can go and see her tomorrow." He said kissing her on the forehead before continuing upstairs. When he got upstairs he found Lois on the floor of the bathroom crying. "Lois? Are you all right? What is wrong?" "Oh Ned. Thank you so much for coming." Lois said as she ran into his arms. Ned just stood there comforting his ex-wife. "Shhh. It's all right. Just clam down and tell me what is going on." Ned said trying to calm her down. Lois looked up from his shoulder. "I got your shirt wet." She said wiping it. Ned looked down to see a huge wet spot on his shoulder. "That is the least of my worries. What is wrong Lois?" He said starting to wipe the tears off her face. " Oh Ned! I am so sorry to bother you, but I didn't know where else to go or who else to call. I just needed to get away from everything." "Lois I don't mind, I just wish you would tell me what is going on." Lois looked up at him again and then said "I......I...I think I am having a mental break down. Everything is just to much for me. Brooke Lynn, work, my mother. And I have to do everything by myself. I can't take it anymore. I had to get away." Ned looked at Lois with concern in his eyes. "Okay. What is wrong with Brooke? Is she being bad? What?" "Oh it's just that she is getting to be so big and such a handful and with everything else going on. I love her, you know that right?" Lois said getting upset again. Ned handed her another tissue. "Of course I know you love Brooke. She is your world. What is wrong with your mother and work?" "It is just all getting to much." Lois said again. "My mother wants to be so involved in everything I do and then she criticizes me for how I raise Brooke Lynn. And at work I am just too busy I never get a break. I can't handle it anymore. I need help. That's why I came here and called you." "Lois what can I do? I'll do anything to help you through this." "Do you really mean that?" Lois asked starting to finally calm down. Ned looked at her and then said, "Of course I do. You are the mother to my daughter. What do you need me to do?" Lois took a deep breathe and then said, "I know you are engaged to marry Alexis, but I want us to get back together. I want to be a family with you and Brooke Lynn. We can be there for each other, to help each other through times like this. I know I should have come to this a long time ago, but I thought I could handle it. I can't, I need you Ned." Ned stood in the doorway to the bathroom unable to move and in shock. "What?" He finally managed to get out. "I want us to be together again. I will move back here, anything. I just want us to be together." Lois said moving towards Ned in the doorway. "Lois I think you need to get a good nights sleep and then we will talk again tomorrow. I'm leaving to go home to Alexis." He said backing out of the door and heading down the stairs. "Ned! Wait!" Lois yelled after him. |
