And we did a little PR by giving everyone a card saying: "Thanks for helping.... with your contribution of canned goods for the North Kent Service Center, or empty beverage cans to help support the Senior Lunch Program at River Grove Retirement Community. The members of North Kent Presbyterian Church are committed to mission projects right here in our local area where we all can make a difference! And if you're looking for a small, friendly church family, please come visit us, ....we'd love to welcome you. Watch for news of the next gathering. |
One of the goals of the mission committee is to provide everyone, regardless of their personal resources, an opportunity to grow in their faith through action. In May & again in August, we hosted an event that required only a bit of time and some good walking shoes. Several members spent about two hours canvassing a nearby neighborhood for food and redeemable pop cans. We collected $120 in food and $110 worth in cans. We cared for others and showed our faith through our actions. We put a personal face on North Kent Presbyterian Church by meeting our neighbors. |
