Biology Lab on Calories

Problem:

How does the amount of calories used and the amount of calories found in the food we eat affect our weight?

Hypothesis:

Procedure:

  1. Find your mass on the morning of day one.  Record this mass as “initial mass”.
  2. Use the table 9-4 on page 197 in your textbook to calculate the amount of calories you use each day.
  3. Record each daily activity and the amount of calories used each day.
  4. Find the total amount of calories used by adding up all the calories used each day.
  5. Find your mass on the morning of day four.  Record this mass as “final mass”.
  6. Subtract to find the change in mass.

Initial mass = ______________    Final mass = _______________

Change in mass = ______________
