| My buddy, and fly-fishing instructor, Einar, joined me for his first smallmouth bass fishing trip, and the Sheyenne River did not disappoint! "E" landed his first smallmouth, and finished the weekend with about 20 of them under his belt, including three 15 inchers, a 16 incher and a 17.5 incher. Add to that some walleye action and the occasional pike, and it was a great weekend for the Norwegian known as "Inspector Pike." To top that off, the weekend concluded on a slower Monday, but the size made up for the lack of numbers. This included a great 32 inch pike I landed at the "honey hole" below Baldhill Dam, and my reuniting with my 19.75 inch sweetheart - a beautiful bronzeback. |

| Top Left: Einar with a nice eater walleye taken deep in the river in the middle of the day. Top Right: E lifts his first C&R Whopper Club smallmouth bass caught in the shadows of the Hi-Line bridge, as is evidenced from the background, we were having motor troubles at the time, but the 16-inch fish took our minds off them for a while. Lower Left: E hoists a nice bass up, the action on Monday morning was fast and furious. Lower Right: Einar poses with his biggest bass, a 17.5 incher, with the Hi-Line bridge in the background. All in all, it was a good trip, despite boat troubles and some rain! |
