Yahoo will be closing Geocities at the end of October. This website is hosted by Geocities therefore it will no longer exist. There are some Peruvian activies organized by the Public Library of Newark for the last three months of the year. Please see the PDF program in the September section. I will advised to download it.

Setiembre 2009

Marinera Norteña Dance Competition
The Club Libertad of New Jersey organizes the First Selective Competition of Marinera Norteña 2009. This is the first time in New Jersey that the finalists will be invited to travel to Trujillo-Perú, to participate in the Final Competition in the celebration of Club Libertad of Trujillo's 50th Anniversary. Registration will start the 1st of September. The finalists will be selected at Wayne Tech on Sunday, November 15.

San Martin de Porres Mass
The Hermandad de San Martín de Porres of Paterson, invites the general community to the Mass in honor of Peruvian saint San Martin de Porres.

Hispanic Heritage 2009 at Newark's Public Library
The Public Library of Newark has organized a series of Peruvian cultural programs to celebrate the Hispanic Heritage 2009.
These special events will be celebrated September 17 - December 31.
The library is located at: 5 Washington Street, Newark, 07102.

Peruvian Organizations of Union County activies in Elizabeth
Peruvian Organizations of Union County have organized the following events to commemorate Peru's Independence.

Saturday 25 - 10am to 1pm: Peruvian March starting at Front St. and Elizabeth Avenue. The March runs thru Elizabeth Avenue and ends at the City Hall.
Sunday 26 - 1pm to 8pm: Peruvian Festival at the Escalona Restaurant's Parking lot. There will be a Peruvian show and food.

Peruvian Flag Raising Ceremony in Harrison-East Newark
The Asociación Peruanos Unidos USA invites to Peruvians in NJ to assist at the raising of the Peruvian Flag in Harrison.

Where: Harrison's Town Hall (318 Harrison Avenue)
When: Saturday July 18
Time: 1:00pm

Note: After the flag ceremony, a Peruvian Folkloric show will take place at Harrison's Senior Citizen Center (221 Harrison Ave.)

Peruvian Parade and Festival of Kearny-Harrison
PCANJ presents the 5th Peruvian Parade and Festival that will take place in Kearny and Harrison.

Where: The parade starts in Kearny's Town Hall and goes thru Passaic Ave. to conclude in Harrison's Town Hall.
When: Sunday July 19
Time: Starts at 1:00 pm in Kearny

The festival will take place at Saint Vincent Marina Park (corner of Passaic Ave. and Bergen Ave.) in Kearny. It opens at 10:30 am.

Peruvian Parade of New Jersey
Peruvian Parade Inc. invites to the Peruvian Parade in honor of Peru's Independence. There will be floats and traditional dance groups.

Where: Passaic, Clifton and Paterson thru Main Ave.
When: Sunday, July 26
Time: It starts at 10:00 am in Passaic and ends in Paterson at the corner of Main and Market.

Peruvian Flag Raising Ceremony in Newark
The Peruvians in Newark in coordination with Newark's City Hall, Mayor Cory A. Booker and Vice Mayor Margarita Muñiz will present the First Peruvian Flag Raising in Newark to commemorate Peru's Independence. Since this is the first time that this ceremony will take place in Newark, the organization committee invites Peruvians in Newark and other locations to attend this event.

Where: Newark City Hall Rotunda (920 Broad Street)
When: Tuesday, July 28
Time: 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm
