In spite of the scary look on the face, gorillas are usually gentle. They are the largest kind of ape.

Gorillas have good vision and hearing, but have a poor sense of smell.

They live in West Africa, in dense jungles. Most of the time they live on the ground, but sometimes sleep in tree nests.

A Gorilla can get as tall as 5 1/2 feet and weigh as much as 600 pounds.

They eat mostly leaves and fruit.
