Ki in Aikido : A Sampler of Ki Exercises Ki in Aikido : A Sampler of Ki Exercises by C. M. Shifflett, Linda Adkisson (Photographer)

Book Description
The true practical value of martial arts training is often not in the "martial" applications, but in skills, attitudes, and conflict resolution techniques that can be applied in more common daily interactions. Carol has done a wonderful job of distilling the principles of Ki Aikido into a book that is useful and accessable to the non-martial artist as well as to the dedicated "dojo bum".

Ki : A Road That Anyone Can Walk Ki : A Road That Anyone Can Walk by William Reed.

Book Description
This book starts with the history of Koichi Tohei Sensei, who developed and bring his knowledge about KI to our world. Though I was looking for a text book on KI what I found was a book that has summaries of practical KI for our daily life. The most impressive thing is the fact that relax and calmness is the key to a great strength. Book allows you to see that anyone can learn and apply KI.

Book of Ki : Co-Ordinating Mind and Body in Daily Life Book of Ki : Co-Ordinating Mind and Body in Daily Life by Koichi Tohei.

Ki in Daily Life Ki in Daily Life by Koichi Tohei.

Book Description
Koichi Tohei has written a masterpiece. "KI in Daily Life" has been the most accurate description so far of KI that I have read. It is ideal for the novice to advanced student. Tohei not only describes in detail mediataion, and excercises to build your inner power, but also pictures and demonstrations. In conclusion I recommend this book from the beginer to advance students in KI, and a must read for all Martial Artists.

Kiatsu Kiatsu by Koichi Tohei.

Book Description
This out-of-print book is a must if you wish to study the finer details of Ki. Koichi Tohei Sensei describes "Kiatsu" -- pressing with Ki. This is similar but different to "Shiatsu" -- pressing with hands. If you find it, buy it.

Ki : A Practical Guide for Westerners Ki : A Practical Guide for Westerners by William Reed, Koichi Tohei.

William Reed has tried to define and teach the meaning of KI so that we in the west can learn. The first part of the text helps us undersatnd KI, develop KI and pratcie KI. There are a series of excericses and a section on KI meditation. The second part of the text goes into KI development in the Japanese Arts (Shodo, Aikido, Kiatsu, Go, Noh and teh Tea Ceremony). Shogun (long) Shogun (1980) by Jerry London, starring Richard Chamberlain, Toshir Mifune, et al. (4 VHS NTSC tapes)

Video Description
Originally broadcast in September of 1980 as a 5-part, 12-hour miniseries, Shogun stood out from the pack of television events at the time with its boldness of action and calculated risks. Based on James Clavell's epic novel, Shogun stars Richard Chamberlain as John Blackthorne, a 17th-century English pilot commanding a Dutch ship that wrecks off the coast of Japan. This is expensive because it is the whole she-bang.

Seven Samurai (1956) by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshir Mifune, et al. (DVD)

Video Description
Unanimously hailed as one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of the motion picture, Seven Samurai has inspired countless films modeled after its basic premise. But Akira Kurosawa's classic 1954 action drama has never been surpassed in terms of sheer power of emotion, kinetic energy, and dynamic character development.

Yojimbo (1962) Yojimbo (1962) by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshir Mifune, et al. (VHS NTSC tape)
Yojimbo (1962) by Akira Kurosawa, starring Toshir Mifune, et al. (DVD)

Video Description
This semi-comic 1961 film by legendary director Akira Kurosawa was inspired by the American Western genre. Kurosawa mainstay Toshir Mifune plays a drifting samurai for hire who plays both ends against the middle with two warring factions. One of the inspirations for the "spaghetti Westerns" of director Sergio Leone and later surfacing as a remake as Last Man Standing with Bruce Willis, this film offers insight into a director who influenced American films even as he was influenced by them.
