Into Your Hands A Grandmother's Story By Catherine B. Carver
~Dedication~
This book is dedicated to my daughter, Angela, for her bravery in choosing a difficult road without faltering. You are an excellent mother and I thank you for your ultimate decision to choose life.
~Forward~
The following story is about our family, which was given an opportunity to practice unconditional love. Through the untimely birth of a child we are learning about celebrating life. With a belief in God, a compassionate heart, a strong family, and faithful community, each day can be a celebration even in the midst of a crisis. It is hoped that this story will inspire others to rise to meet life's challenges despite difficult and sometimes extreme circumstances.
~Introduction~
What parent wants to hear that their teenage daughter is pregnant? In Betty Eadie's bestseller entitled Embraced by the Light, the author tells about her near death experience. Upon reflecting what I read in this book, the writer is visiting heaven and learns how we are born. She tells what her guiding spirit explained to her about how souls get to earth. We all have our own creation stories based on religion, culture, or fantasy, but I personally thought souls were born in assembly-line-fashion, or were sent down to earth like orders being filled in the butcher shop. You pull a number, wait in line, when your number is called; you float down to join your destined family. This is not true according to this author. My understanding of what the author states is that souls pick their own families. They do not have a conscious memory of doing so, but in the heavenly realm, they choose their circumstances. The author asked her guiding spirit why a soul would choose to be crippled, abused, or blind rather than wealthy and living a life relatively problem free? The spirit said that those who choose the more difficult lives are given special graces, a different heart, gifts of the spirit that are necessary to live the life they chose. Not meaning to start a debate, it is comforting to think that our baby chose to be with us, bringing unique gifts to our family.
