Club Constitution and
Tournament Rules
Article
I: Name, Purpose, Meeting
Section 1 Name:
The Club
shall be named South Jersey Bass Devils.
Section II purpose:
To preserve
and respect wildlife and game management; to promote and aid in the betterment
of Bass fishing; to enjoy fellowship and exchange Bass fishing technique with
fellow Club members.
Section III Meeting:
A meeting
will be held the Thursday before each scheduled Tournament at 7:30pm at Club
designated meeting place. Intoxication is not allowed at the Meeting.
Article II: Membership
Section I Membership:
A. Membership shall be limited to 24 active members. The club may grant inactive membership up to one year as long as dues are current. A Members active slot will be reserved during his inactive status.
B. A prospective Member will be introduced to the Club for membership by the Club member sponsoring him, only after the prospect has fished (2) tournaments as a Guest and has attended (2) Meetings.
a. If there are no vacancies, member will put on a waiting list
b. If there is a vacancy, prospective member will be asked to leave the room while any discussion is held. The discussion and Vote will be taken in his absence.
C. Any Member who deems it necessary to drop out of the Club may request to put on the waiting list, first
D. Fish caught by prospective members will be recorded and added to the Standings upon acceptance in the Club
E. BASS Membership is required
F. Prospective member will accepted into membership by majority vote of club members present
G. New members are required to pay $10.00 Initiation Fee.
H. Membership will consist of $120.00 per year, paid in intervals $10.00 a per month. If dues are paid in advance for entire year at the First Meeting, there will be a $20.00 discount.
Article III: Elections,
Officers, committees, voting
Section I elections:
A. The election of Officers shall be held annually at the first regular club meeting. Elections will effected using a simple majority vote cast by members present at the meeting. In the event that (2) candidates are running for the same office, a vote shall be taken for all candidates and the lowest vote getter will be eliminated. The membership shall then vote a runoff of the remaining candidates until there are only (2) left. The remaining candidate receiving the majority of votes in the runoff will be elected to that office.
B. Members will be allowed to declare and run for more than one office, but may be elected to only one.

C. No member shall refuse nomination for any Office if that member has not served as an Officer in the previous (2) years.
Section Ii
Offices and duties:
A. President
President shall preside over all club meetings, direct official business of the club, appoint and direct club committees and their functions, supervise club functions, accept dues in the absence of the Treasurer.
B. Vice President
Vice President assists President in his duties, presides over club meetings and functions in the absence of the President, supervises special functions and public relations for the club, maintains records regarding participation of members and reports any violations at the July and February meetings.
C. Secretary Treasurer
Secretary Treasurer maintains accurate minutes of club meetings and designated functions; reads minutes at meetings. Collects and disburses club monies and maintains accurate financial status of the club and reports at each meeting.
D. Tournament Chairman
Tournament Chairman shall plan and conduct club tournaments in accordance with club rules.
E. Assistant Tournament Chairman
Assistant Tournament Chairman shall assist in the duties of the Tournament Chairman, conduct weigh-ins, and direct Tournament in the absence of the Tournament Chairman.
Section IIi
Committees:
The Executive Committee shall consist of last years President, current President, Vice President, Secretary Treasurer, Tournament Chairman, and Assistant Tournament Chairman. It shall have the authority to make decisions on behalf of the club and the responsibility of planning monthly meetings and special events in addition to normal functions. Any decision requiring assessment of the membership would require a polling of the membership for a majority vote.
Section Iv
Voting:
A. Each member is entitled to one (1) Vote.
B.
Proxy votes are not permitted
C.
Absentee votes will be accepted only when submitted to
the President prior to the first meeting and are allowed only in the general
election of Officers
D.
Any member not in good standing shall not be permitted
to vote – standing determined by the President
Section Iv
TErms:
A. Terms of Office will be for One year, commencing after the first meeting and ending at the following years annual meeting, or until a successor fills the unexpired term of a particular Office
B.
Vacancies will be filled by nominations and special
election to be held at the request of the President
Section v
tournament rules:
A.
Tournament dates
will be drafted and approved at the January club meeting.
B.
Tournament
locations will be drafted and approved at the February club meeting.
C.
Tournament start
times will be determined by the club members’ at the monthly meeting prior to
the tournament.
D.
Tournaments will
last at least 6 hours and no longer than 8 hours
E.
All boats must
have a live-well system or a cooler set up with an air bubbler or
re-circulating pump. There will be no penalty for weighing in a dead
fish.
F.
The first boat
on location has the right of way, others should stay at least 25 feet away for
safety purposes.
G.
No live bait is to
be used in club events, only artificial baits and pork bait are allowed.
H.
All angling must
be done from boats.
I.
Landing nets are
permitted for the safety of the fish.Only one rod and reel are to used at one
time to fish.
J.
There will be
anywhere between 10 and 12 tournaments held during the year with 2 worst
finishes being dropped
K.
The club's
President will determine tournament cancellations.
L.
Tournaments
being cancelled will be rescheduled for the following Weekend at the same
location and time.
M.
The person earning
the most points for all meetings and tournaments will determine the club's
"Angler of the Year".
N.
There is a
maximum of only two club members in a boat during any/all tournaments.
O.
There must be at
least two boats and three persons fishing during any tournament or cancellation
of the tournament will take effect.
P.
Only club
members in good standing are permitted to participate in any tournament.
Q.
Guests are
permitted to fish with the permission of the club's officers.
R.
No pre-fishing a
scheduled tournament location 12 hours prior to a scheduled tournament.
S.
All tournaments will begin promptly at the selected
starting time. All members will be responsible for arriving on time for
launching and starting. The club will not wait for late arrivals, but those arriving
late will be allowed to fish the tournament.
