The people of Amucha community in Imo State has appealed to the Imo State government to urgently come to their rescue by rehabilitating their roads to avert the problems of transportation and gully erosion facing the community. According to the President of the Amucha Progressive Movement, Chief Alphonso Akpaka, "the contract for Amucha-Nkume road which was hurriedly awarded by the Col. Tanko K Zubairu administration in his twilight days in office was abandoned by the present governor, Achieke Udenwa, under the pretence of re-examining and re-assessing all contracts awarded in the last days of the military administration".

He explained that the hope of the community was raised in August 2000 when the Imo State government, through a publication in the Guardian Newspapers by the state Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport, requested for tender for some linkage roads including that of Amucha -Nkume road.

"Surprisingly, to date, Amucha community is yet to benefit from the democratic dividends of Achike Udenwa's administration despite the fact that the Amucha-Nkume road was among the roads approved by the State House of Assembly for the Ministry of Works, Housing and Transport in its 2001 state budget", Akpaka stressed.

He further explained that since the inception of the present government, his community has not seen or witness any state presence or assistance in any form, despite their huge contributions to the electoral success of Governor Achike Udenwa.
