3-0 in the Big Ten

Iowa's Next Game is Against:

Wisconsin

* on a side note this web page has not been updated much recently due to problems with Geocities.  I think I have found a way around the problem so hopefully this page will now stay up to date.

A Quick Look At Recent Games

Iowa's now #1 in the Big Ten.  They knock off the 3-0 Purdue Boilermakers
Iowa got the lead early and held a consitant 10 point lead thru most of the game
REGGIE EVANS exploded with 17pts and 18 rebounds.  Iowa just outplayed Purdue.

Iowa comes away with a HUGE win against the #8 Fighting Illini
LUKE RECKER lead Iowa in scoring once again with 25 pts. and is my player of the game.
The Illini had trouble hitting shots and Iowa played good defense.  Iowa was able to successfully
take care of their home floor.

Iowa goes on the road and wins, they come back to beat Penn St. 86-85
This is Iowa's first true road win and it is the first time that many of the Iowa players
have played in a Big Ten game.  LUKE RECKER is my player of the game, after only having 5pts. in
the first half he came alive when Iowa needed him to and finshed with 20, four of those points came in the
closing minute of the game when he hit a jumper to put Iowa up by two and then sealed the victory by hitting
two freethrows at the line.  BRODY BOYD continued his imporved play with back to back three points at a key point
late in the second half.

On a side note here is a quick rundown of who I think Iowa's best players are, as of right now.
This order could change as the season goes on.  This info is based on what I saw at Prime
Time League, the Midnight Madness and the two preseason games.  Also my top five are who
I see as Iowa starters.

#1 Luke Recker

He's quick, can score, dribble, defend, and make smart playes.  He is just an overall solid player who will make the
big plays when Iowa needs them.

#2 Dean Oliver

No doubt in my mind.  Dean Oliver is going to be the best Point Guard in the big ten this year.  He will provide the
leadership that Iowa will need this year.  With the presure off Oliver to score look for him to have his best year at Iowa.

#3 Reggie Evans

I was not really impressed with Evens during the Prime Time League but once I saw him play against other competition in those
preseason games, I found myself very impressed with Even's play.  He's the physcial force that Iowa needs inside.  He will
make major controbutions to a very strong Iowa team.

#4 Duez Henderson

Duez is back and better than ever.  No more banging under the boards for this guy.  Duez now has a chance to play the
small forward position and body up against much smaller guys.  He will have an outstanding year for Iowa.

#5 Jared Reiner

Iowa needed a center and they finally got one.  Things look like they will be rough for the freshman to begin with.
He isn't use to the size that he will soon see in College Basketball.  But once he adjusts he will be the center
Iowa was missing last year.

#6 Ryan Hogan
A hard working basketball player that is quick and can shoot.  He makes a great addition to this team.

#7 Glen Worley
A very good highschool basketball player, who is still working his way into college ball.  There have been
a lot of comments about how good Worley will be.  Up to this point I have not been really impressed with
his play.  He needs to learn to play team basketball.  I think that Alford can work with Worley and if Worley
is willing to listen and change he could turn into a great basketball player.

#8 Courtney Scott
The big body that Iowa needs underneath.  He will give Iowa a physcial power when playing other teams.
He has a lot to work on but has great potential at Iowa.

#9 Sean Sonderleiter
Sean was the most impressive freshman that I saw at the Prime Time League.  He could rebound with the
biggest of them (A.C. Earl).  I saw a lot of potential from Sean.  Once he gets a few years under his belt
he will be Iowa's best rebounder, if Reiner or Scott don't take that honor.

#10 Brody Boyd
When did Jason Williams leave the Sacramento Kings and start playing college ball again.  Well Boyd isn't quite
Jason Williams, atleast not yet.  Boyd had very good ball handleing skills and can score.  At prime time league
he showed off some of his moves but he won't be able to make the same moves against the competition he's
facing this year.  Having Dean Oliver to practice against will turn him into a very good point guard next year.

#11 Joe Fermino
I have not see a lot of Joe this year.  If he has improved from last year he could more up from this spot.  If
not he stays at #11.

#12 Rod Thompson
Rod is a big strong guy.  If only he were a little taller.  Look for Rod to play some minutes but as the
year goes on his time will be  cut.

#13 Jason Smith
A hardworking player left over from Davis's Gray Team squad.  He should play some minutes but not very many.

#14 Jon Beutjer
That's right Iowa's quarterback, Jon misses basketball so he thinks he might join the team.  There is still paperwork that needs to be taken
care of.  Jon may be better than #14 but I have no idea how good he is at basketball.  Today Beutjer practiced with the Iowa team and
he was wearing the number 1.  Watch Beutjer's name for updating information.

In one of the recent games Steve Alford decided to take a time out to point out
just how important winning the game was here is what he told his players.*

*This story is purely fictional, I only wrote it to inflate my own ego.  Actually I'm Surprised
that you went this far down my web page, and that you are reading this whole paragraph.
