Shining through the dark!!

India is my country,

All Indians are my brothers and sisters,

This pledge reminds me as a mere feeling,

Like a  pain without any blisters.

Sure we are not just here to make promises,

Waiting for others to reap the harvest,

 It’s the action more that counts,

And the zest in us to give our best.

This country is full of mortals,

Who bear the virtue of immortal achievements,

Why let their perseverance go down the drain,

With crude remarks, hatred and comments.

The sure thing is to fit in their shoes,

And show the nation how much we care,

If we got the sense to avoid hypocrisy,

Why don’t we seek the courage to go for the dare.

I wish to amass such desire and qualities,

The strength to stand for what I despise,

Not awaiting recognition from watchers,

I don’t want to behold the truth in disguise.

This feeling is what I wish my people should embed,

Cause if there’s a will there’s a way,

The habit for success isn’t at all bad,

The worse part of it is just to sit and pray.

From success I don’t mean to conquer,

The rights withheld by our comrades,

Sure we are trained with the art of war,

Using it in the wrong sense just drowns our grades.

The scams and scandals for which I stand witness,

Today makes me feel why did we hail freedom,

Was it to triumph over the unprivileged,

Or to con them by our sheer wisdom.

Simple things change the course of history,

Even by our slightest inputs, I beg to differ,

Then its time for us to make our amendments,

In way of good that might not make our future to suffer.

The victors have given the treasure trove of freedom,

Not just to sit in its glory and bask,

They have passed the baton in our hands,

To glorify it further by our tasks.

The way to making this country great,

Is to appraise our thoughts today,

Imparting it towards the prosperity of masses,

Will make our flag more higher to sway.

Just commenting on the way we are heading,

Is just the way of going about for cowards,

The real achievement lies in what we do for it,

Cause actions speak louder than words.

Braving for the success of the nation,

Is what I feel we Indians ought to posses,

To make our motherland stand above,

In the race for supremacy and progress.

The  pledge for which in my true sense today,

Would be to stop just partying and dining,

And to raise our spirits in  shaping its future,

So that tomorrow we can say “Yes, my India is Shining!”
