An Afternoon on the Rock
River
A Field Journal in pictures One of the most difficult yet interesting parts
of this assignment was to see how what we do affects the river. I have
driven past this rest area my whole life, yet never thought about what the
fishermen, pit toilets, pump, highways, and farms were doing to the Rock
River. I always thought the Rock was rather clean (and it is, compared
to many of the city rivers in the area).
Time permitting, I would have liked to go further upriver, perhaps to the Horicon Marsh to see the beginnings. I also would have liked to go to Jefferson, where there is a dam on the river, just to see the difference from where we were in relatively calm, agricultural land. |
