ASSORTED POTPOURRI RECIPES

Greetings! I have gathered these potpourri recipes from all over the Internet!! I have tried to assign authors when possible but many items are still listed as "source unknown". Spiced Rose Potpourri

Ingredients:

2 cups of dried cedar tips
4 cups of dried red rose petals
Twelve 1-inch cinnamon sticks
1/2 cup of whole cloves
1 cup of star anise
1 cup of hemlock cones
1/2 cup of juniper berries
1/4 ounce of rose oil
1/4 ounce of cinnamon oil

Instructions:

Mix all of the ingredients, minus the oils, in a bowl. Apply the oils to several hemlock cones, using a dropper, then mix the potpourri again. Put the potpourri into an airtight container. Allow it to cure for two to three weeks before use.

Lovely Rose Potpourri

Ingredients:

1 cup dried rose buds and petals
1 cup mixed pink and white dried flowers
1-cup rosemary leaves
1 1/4 cup broken stick cinnamon
1-cup bay leaves
1 tablespoons whole cloves
3 tablespoons orris root chips
6 to 8 drops rose oil

Instructions:

Mix all of the ingredients, minus the rose oil, in a bowl. Apply the oils to the mixtures, using a dropper, then mix the potpourri again. Put the potpourri into an airtight container. Allow it to cure for two to three weeks before use.

Lavender Potpourri

Ingredients:

1 cup lavender flowers
11/2-cup roses
11/2-cup blue and white flowers
1 tablespoon lemon peel
2 tablespoons orris root chips
4 to 6 drops lavender oil

Scotch Heather Potpourri

Ingredients:

1 1/2 cup heather flowers
1-cup pink roses
1 cup artemisia leaves and tips
1-cup pink and light dried rose flowers
1 1/2 cup bay leaves
3 tablespoons orris root chips
6 to 8 drops of rose oil

Instructions:

Mix all of the ingredients, minus the rose oil, in a bowl. Apply the oils to the mixtures, using a dropper, then mix the potpourri again. Put the potpourri into an airtight container. Allow it to cure for two to three weeks before use.

Altar Potpourri

3 parts Frankincense
2 parts Myrrh
1 part cinnamon

Use as a general potpourri on the Altar to purify the area.

Use when purifying or consecrating magickal tools, jewelry, quartz crystals and other stones, pass the tool through the fragrant steam several times. Do this while visualizing the steam purifying the tool.

Hearth Witches Potpourri

1/2 oz. broken cloves
1/2 oz. powdered allspice
1 oz. rosemary
2 oz. sage
1 oz lavende
2 drops pine oil
2 drops vanilla
2 drops patchouli
1 broken cinnamon stick
a handful or so of Cedar chips
a jar with a lid to hold the potpourri

Directions:

Mix together all the ingredients except for the cinnamon stick and the chips.

Take the cedar chips and place them at the bottom of the jar. Sprinkle the mix over them and then cover the mix with another layer of the chips. Continue this way until the jar if filled.

About halfway to the top place the broken cinnamon stick, and then continue on. When the jar is filled put on the lid and let it sit so the smells Intermingle. When you want to freshen a room just open the jar and let the lovely smells penetrate the air.

Beltane Ritual Potpourri
Recipe by Gerina Dunwich

45 drops frankincense oil
1 cup oak moss
1 cup dried bluebells
1 cup dried lilac
1 cup dried marigold
1 cup dried meadowsweet
1 cup dried rosebuds and petals
1 cup dried yellow cowslips

Mix the frankincense oil with the oak moss and then add the remaining ingredients. Stir the potpourri well and store in a tightly covered ceramic or glass container.
