The Poem Below Was Provided For Your Amusement.
It Proves That Not All Poetry Has To Be Perfect Or Serious.
The Poem Was Derived From Forrest's Nature Diary.

"Progression 2000: Just My Way."

This Nature Diary Is A Year Long Walk Through The Wilds Of
Pennsylvania In The Year That Was 2000.
"The Cookie Crunching Blues, A Squirrel's Lament" Won
An Editor's Choice Award From Poetry.Com And
The National Library Of Poetry.
It Is Based On A True Story Of A Squirrel
Who Was Caught Stealing Freshly Baked Cookies
From A Women's Condominium.
For It's Transgressions It Was Captured
And Taken To City Park!

The Cookie Crunching Blues!
A Squirrel's Lament..

I'm Down At The Park With Popcorn In My Paws,

And Navigating My Tree With Speedy Claws.

Fido With Max Love My Tree By The Lake,

And It's Here That They Often Lift Their Leg.

I Dream Of A Time When Cookies Were Great!

I Would Climb Castle Walls To Get One To Eat!

I Did It For Years And No One Ever Said Nay,

Until The Old Lady Caught Me And They Took Me Away!

They Were Pumpkin And Oatmeal, With Raisins Too!

My Tail Was More Bushy When I Had Them To Chew.

Now It's Popcorn Or Peanuts, And A Dumpster Or Two,

But No More Cookies For A Squirrel Who's Blue!
