Finally I've put something together about the place we call home since more than 3 years. I guess we have been here already so long that we find everything just normal and not worth mentioning.
Jakarta is not really a tourist destination and it is not really a "beautiful place" if you measure it by European standards. It has a great deal of contrasts and problems as all these big and fast growing Asian cities: Mind bobbling differences of very rich and very poor, pollution, crime, frustrating traffic jams and then there are all these friendly Indonesian people, active and interesting community life, great restaurants, good friends, excellent schools for the kids...
When my mother came over here last Christmas we tried to rediscover Jakarta
