| *5 months earlier* "Brian, maybe we should pull over." I said to my husband. "Yeah dad, it's really pouring outside." our 16 year old son Jacob replied. "Dad, I'm not that much in a hurry to get home from school." our other son, Conner said. He was coming home from college that night. Brian insisted that he drive him home and we all go to pick him up. It was one week before his 22nd birthday. Our oldest, Kim, and her husband Brad Wilson were waiting along with a surprise party at home. Kim was expecting her first child at the age of 23. I was so sure it was going to be a girl. "Okay, we're coming to a rest stop just a mile up the road. I'll pull over then." Brian insisted. "Sweetie, I think we should just pull over here." I insisted. "Rose, could you check the weather?" Brian asked me. I turned on the radio, but nothing happened. "The station is all static." I replied. Brian leaned at it trying to watch the road and the radio at once. I sat looking forward. I noticed something shine up ahead. "What's that?" I asked as we came closer to it. "It looks like-" Conner gasped, "Dad, it's a road block, stop!" he shouted.
