DESCRIPTION: In this event, students will use remote sensing imageiv to analyse the impact of human and natural activities such as agriculture, forestry, urbanization, mining, manufacturing, volcanic eruptions, etc., on the physical environment Students will also evaluate the relationship of a local area or regional physical environment to its cultural landscape. To accomplish these tasks students may use any combination of the following remote sensing imagery or products of remote sensing images.
Aerial photographs
Topographic maps
satellite imagery
planimetric maps
radar imagery
public records
A TEAM OF: 2 APPROXIMATE TIME: 50 MINUTES

Students will be supplied with all maps, images and photographs necessary to complete the activity. Students may bring protractors, calculators, rulers, notes, reference materials and other devices. Students are not to mark on the maps, photographs, or images.

3) How many acres of forest must be cut?
SCORING:
The number of correct responses recorded determines places in the competition. Pre-identified questions will-be used as tiebreakers. Time is not a factor. Suggested Resources:
