Looking Forward, Enjoying the View Backwards.

Tomoko and I have had our hands full this fall, which has been one of the busiest since we've been married.  Actually, it all started in the tail-end of summer.  Tomoko has been very good about trying to improve her massage techniques, learning new types of massage that interest her.  Her latest addition to her arsenal is Ashiatsu, where she walks on people's backs.  She went to a class near Seattle for four days and enjoyed it a lot.  She also got interested in a new type of Asian Massage while she was at the class, called "Bamboo Fusion."  She and I have talked about her future in massage.  She would like to specialize in various types of Asian massage because, well, she's Asian.
Meanwhile, I have been studying and studying and studying.  I have decided to try to go to Graduate School while I am working, so I had to take something called a GMAT test to get into Graduate School.  It went better than I had expected, so starting January, I will be taking classes to get my Masters in Business. Then, last week, I went to a class to get my Insurance License.  The class prepped me for the four tests I had to take.  It was challenging, but interesting, and I passed all four tests.  My brain has had a lot of cobwebs to clear out because I haven't used it a lot over the last ten years.  It was screaming for a break after the last tests, so I will take it easy in December before the classes begin.
Tomoko and I had a great time in October because we went to my university in Pullman, WA.  We enjoyed the ambiance of the school, the football game (even though we lost 66-3) and well, just getting out of town!  Tomoko thought that my university seemed like more fun than her university and she said that she would like to be a student someday.
Our big vacation, though, was our trip to Japan for Tomoko's sister's wedding.  We had a FANTASTIC time and it went WAY too fast.  We were able to meet with our friends, spend time with Tomoko's family and take a vacation within a vacation to Himeji Castle, which is by far the most majestic castle I have seen in Japan.  I enjoyed every minute, including the one hour haircut I received (complete with 15 minute scalp massage).  Tomoko and I enjoyed our time so much that we could both imagine moving back someday, though that day seems a bit faraway.
This year has flown by.  We have been so busy, but it has been fun to think about our future and what it holds for the two of us.  We have been fortunate to be surrounded by good family and friends on BOTH sides of the ocean.  We thank God for being so lucky.  We appreciate your friendship and wish you a wonderful holiday season.  May 2009 treat you well!

Take care!
Zach and Tomoko
