Arachniphobia

You're afraid
afraid of the darkness you create
oh the tangled webs we weave
you're scared
scared of failure
breaking the silky web of success you've been told to fly into
and watching the black spiders come
crawling
towards you
up your body, their million eyes surveying you
the spiders
waiting
to creep out
of the dark catacombs of your brain
to pounce
suck the life out of you
But I'm afraid too
afraid of the spiders you unleash on me
the distorted figures of the imagination
They watch us:
huddled together for the fear of the ceatures
that aren't even there
You've cuaght me in your web
the one you created for yourself

Long Passage To Somewhere

waiting
thoughts tumbling in my head like tee-shirts in a dryer
I see a building with no windows
now jagged-edged slices of glass
staining my soul red
in the dark catacombs of your brain,
long forgotten slices of pizza on the bamboo table
dangling over the edge of something too deep for my weary mind to fathom
scared
pieces from two different puzzled puzzles
suddenly gone
the artist mourning his lost treasure
higgeldy-piggeldy portraitist paints nippy roses
screaming at me
in the reflection of a hallway mirror
that is the moon
