Unreality

A door opens before me
To where I do not know
It leads out into the darkness
But is that where I want to go?

I can’t turn back, there’s no return
I must go on; the Future lies ahead
Fate I must approach, whether good or ill
But what is this Path and where by it may I be led?

My bag weighs heavy on my shoulder
My shoes are worn and tired
Around me the air is getting colder
I see my breath in front of my face

I feel an icy chill on my feet
Water is seeping up through the ground
A shallow Puddle, void of heat
A pool that stretches as far as I can see

And in the pale grey wasteland
Now covered by eternal Silver
I sink farther into the cold wet Sand
Two choices now lie before me

Do I stay here in eternal nothingness
Or do I go on and face what lies ahead
But I must go on and meet my Destiny

I weigh the Choices in my mind
And realize there’s nothing for me here
I step forward to leave this place behind
This World barren of all but loneliness

I reach out and touch the Portal
It shimmers and ripples like prismatic water
I step through the gate not made by mortals
But to where? I guess I shall see…

Breathe Deep

Breath deep, the impending gloom
You shall realize so suddenly soon
As dark colors swirl ‘round the room
When you gaze upon a blood-red moon
That all things here must pass

You step out, embrace the night
The trees! The stars! Nothing rushed
The magnificent dark, so void of light
This, the eerie tranquil of silence hushed
When you realize that it will soon end

And then! A rustling above, in the tree
Something foreboding disturbs the dark
You turn to run, you turn to flee
But lo! The archer’s arrow hits its mark
That’s when it all begins to stop

You fall to your knees and clutch your chest
As your life before you drips away
You wait for the darkness to bring its rest
Face down in the dirt, there you lay
And you catch a fleeting glimpse of
enlightenment as you die…
