Sara deDraconis
Sara deDraconis.  Sara of the Dragons.  A fitting name for this lovely though cool young lady.  A piercing intellect and level, rational head often give her the almost eerie feel of something not quite human, though quite human she is.  Her Familiar, a dragonet named Maskaulacorm, only adds to the appropriateness of her name.

She is a mercenary, as were both her parents.  Her father had been a BattleMage, her mother, a swordswoman.  Her childhood had been spent learning the art of the blade from her mother; however, in her early teens, the ability to wield magic made itself known, to the delight of her father.  From then on, she spent large amounts of time - at least when her parents were not too occupied with their present campaign - teaching her the use of her arcane abilities, though her mother made sure she never forgot the use of her sword.

In due time, she became adept enough that her father felt it time that she try and call a Familiar, a very common companion for BattleMages, as often the creatures they bonded with could get to places and see things that the Mages could not.  For days, she prepared for the ritual, then went into the woods, secluding herself for nearly a week to perform it.  When she returned with a dragonet, however, all those in the Company knew that she was destined for something special.

Successfully calling and bonding to a Familiar was a turning point in her life.  It marked her ascention to full Adept.  She spent several years serving with the Company; however, during a campaign, both of her parents were slain in a night-time raid.  After that, she could not stand to see all the pained and sympathetic faces, of those who had also lost so much in that decimating raid.  Soon she left the Company, wandering the countryside as a lone mercenary.

One day it happened that word reached her ears that the peaceful kingdom of Vanyanin Aran'dor might actually have an interest in hiring those skilled in battle, both hand and arcane.  Having grown up hearing stories of the wonder and beauty that was Vanyanin Aran'dor, she set out for it, as much in curiosity as to what could bring such a peaceful kingdom hire warriors as anything.

She finally reached the kingdom, and shortly before entering the gates of the city itself, met a strange man who gave the name Griffin Heddy - though it likely wasn't his actual name, as he appeared to be unable to remember a single fact about himself; the rest of his memory, however, seemed not only undamaged, but far in excess of normal.  They made the way into the city together, and have spent a good deal of time in each other's company since.

The King of Vanyanin Aran'dor, Torlan Aki'rae, did indeed hire her...  though she still has yet to find the answer to her question of why.
