| Leie was born to the Sycath Taur'quessir, a tribe of what are commonly known as Wood Elves. Unfortunately, she was born with one major problem: she was blind, completely without any sight at all. To the Taur'quessir, this made her something of an abomination, and she was considered outcast, though even they could not bring themselves to kill her outright. For a time, she was sent to live in the High Elf court, hoping that one of their healers might be able to help her gain sight, but it was of no use, and she was returned to the jungles of her home. When her other abilities began to bloom in her puberty, the Sycath decided that she was dangerous, and kept her isolated, but eventually she managed to slip away with the aid of her close companions, the jungle cats Tia and Nisa. For years, she merely wandered, avoiding all civilization when possible, in fear of how she might be treated; only very occaisionally stopping at an inn or outpost to get a bit of food not raw or burnt to a crisp, and a warm place to sleep for a night. However, seeing that as often as not this backfired on her, such stops became even more rare. In time, she wandered up to Arytiris Benerel, the great walled city in the kingdom of Vanyanin Aran'dor. Within hours of arriving there, her life was changed dramatically, and forever, by a chance meeting in the streets: Torlan Aki'rae, the king of Vanyanin Aran'dor. They were drawn to each other almost immediately, and began something of a whirl-wind relationship. They are now vowed to wed, as she struggles to adjust to the drastic change in her life and position. |
