Mega Man X 2
By
Corey
After the
first game was complete success, Capcom
immediately brought out X2. Would it be another
great addition to the series, or a let down?
Graphics:

A
step up over the first game. Everything had more
detail and color. X's final armor looks a lot
better than in the original. The explosions are a
lot better than in the first game, especially the
bosses. If you use the right weapon, a few bosses
will blow up better than normal. Like one gets
cut in half instead of just blowing up.
Gameplay:

I'm
not going to get into exact gameplay, it's just
like all other Mega Man games. Still 8 hearts, 4
Sub-Tanks, and 4 capsules to find throughout the
game. Defeat a boss, get its power. Use it
against another boss. Repeat.
There
are some problems I did notice with this game.
First, it seemed the bosses' weaknesses weren't
thought out well. Some had multiple weakness
while one or two may not have any at all. I have
no idea if this was planned or not, but it was
there. Second, the items weren't as hidden as in
the other games. You know where they are and you
know how to get them, but you just can't. If you
aren't exact on your timing, you'll miss it and
sometimes even die. This leads to frustration.
Overall not too major, but still brings down my
score a bit.
Sound:
7
Exact
same sound effects from the first game. And I
could never get into the music, though it is a
lot like the first game as well.
Lasting
Value: 8
Short
game, lots of replay. That's because of all the
paths you can take, and the addictive gameplay,
even though it may not be as good as other Mega
Man games.
Bottom
Line
I
really have no clue why, other than the reasons
above, but I didn't like this game nearly as much
as the first X game. Fans of the series will
still enjoy it like I did, but not as much as the
other games.
Final
Score: 7 out of 10
