    WCW Mayhem

    By Jorden

Every year video game systems are bombarded with wrestling games. WCW Mayhem is a first for EA Sports. How well is it?

    Graphics: 9

Photo realistic characters and (Ugh) motion captured moves. Well mo-cap is generally good for sports games it never really did anything good for wrestling. There is no blood, and the backstage areas are bland. Weapons litter the backstage areas though.

    Game Play: 7

For a first Wrestling game EA does a pretty good job. But the wrestlers move slowly there is poor hit detection (IE two people jumpkick each other without injury). It is also insanely hard to win a match. After you play for a while it becomes second nature but that is after many matches.

    Sound: 8

Sound is fairly good and there are only 6 or 7 entrance songs in the game. Fans cheer and the announcers are repetitive. Standard wrestling game stuff here.

    Lasting Value: 7

Very short career mode but many different ways to unlock secret characters. Password mode so you can play real PPV's on your game add to the replayablity.

    Bottom Line

Good game but not one to rush out and purchase. It has its highs and lows but for someone who is used to the Wrestlemaina 2000 or SmackDown engines prepare to be disappointed.

Final Score: 6 out of 10 (this is not an average)

ESRB rating T because it may not be suitable for younger children (13+)
