Resident Evil 2
By
Jorden
The
Resident Evil series has always been a
Playstation exclusive (Why does the N64 box are
say Only for N64 then) and finally one has been
released for the N64. Does RE2 play the same as
the PSX version? Is it as scary? Does it have the
best ever fmv on a Nintendo system? Read on to
find out.

The
city environments look so real you'll feel like
you're actually there. When you play with the 4MB
Expansion Pac the background environments detail
themselves so that the frame rate moves at a
constant speed. Fixed camera angles add to the
mood. FMV is included in this title and is almost
as good as the same fmv's on the PSX, a little on
the grainy side and the sound is a little tinny
but its high quality fmv on N64 so who's
complaining.

Basically
the same thing over and over. Walk around, shoot
zombies, solve a puzzle, mess you pants when
something jumps out at you, repeating for rest of
game. Repetitive but challenging none the less.

Amazing
horror movie music designed to scare you silly.
Creaking doors, and gates, hungry moans and
various creatures' shrieks make this game one
scary game. Play it muted and loose a lot of the
effect. The only drawback is the characters
voices sound a little tinny and like something
out of a cheesy low budget horror movie.

This
game is huge. The largest N64 game to date in
fact. Inside the massive 512mb cartridge is
crammed so many scary things that would make a
horror movie seem like a comedy. There are two
main characters and once you beat the game with
one of them you have the choice to play again
with the other character with the items randomly
placed. Also if you beat the game within a
certain time or lower and get a certain rating or
higher you receive a special weapon with infinite
ammo. Such as the Rocket Launcher, or Gattling
gun. Mouth watering literally. Also if you beat
both the games on normal quickly and get a
certain rating without using a special rating you
get a special 4th survivor mini game. Beat that
and unlock the tofu mini game. This game will
take you quite a while to beat.
Bottom
Line
If
you like to be scared, or like horror movies this
game is worth at least a rent or two. It will
scare, puzzle, and amaze you with its many
different features. Definitely not recommended
for younger gamers but any older gamer will enjoy
this game.
