    Extreme G

    By Corey

The game set out to be Wipeout for the N64 showed its face a few years ago. Did it do its job or was it another bad performance for Acclaim?

    Graphics: 6

There isn't anything special to the graphics. You really are going too fast most of the time to see anything, but there are a few problems. There is a nice amount of pop-up in the game. That gets annoying. Also fog gets in your way at times and it is a little hard to see when a turn is just ahead of you.

    Game Play: 8

I found the game to be pretty fun. Its basically a normal racing game except for the fact that its extremely high speeds. Sometimes too fast though. You will run into walls constantly because of the high speeds and problems with pop-up and fog. This doesn't bug me much, but wull most likely bug a lot of gamers.

While racing in any mode but practice, you will find weapons lying around. You can use these to slow down the other racers ahead of you to catch up. This doesn't add to the gameplay a whole lot, but its worth mentioning.

The game does have a deathmatch multiplayer option, but I've only tried it once and found it pretty boring.

    Sound: 5

The weapons and bikes make noises, and there is music but nothing that great. You probably won't even notice it while playing anyway.

    Lasting Value: 5

Not really much here. Unless you enjoy the game enough to play it over and over, the game will probably get boring quickly. After you unlock everything, which isn't that hard to do, you will have no incentive to play.

    Bottom Line

The game can be fun, but is over too quickly and has problems. Unless you can find the game for $10 somewhere, I'd rent it first to be sure this is the game for you, and it can be completely beaten in one rental anyway.

Final Score: 7 out of 10 (this is not an average)
