Is Perfect Dark truly
Perfect?
Finally,
Rare's followup to Goldeneye has been released,
but does it live up to the hype?

Goldeneye was
probably the biggest game on N64 in the first 3
years it existed. Many people loved it because of
it was easy to control and had an addictive fun
multiplayer mode. Mission objective in 1p mode
probably didn't hurt either. In the credits for
the game, James Bond will Return was displayed
plain as day. But sadly, Rare didn't get the
license for Tomorrow Never Dies. They then began
production on its semi-sequel, and Perfect Dark
was born. PD has come a long way in those 2
years. Many modes have been announced and then
canned, such as the GB Camera thing. One of the
original plans for PD was to allow gamers that
had a GB Camera and a Transfer Pak was that they
would be able to take their picture and then
import it into PD so that they could be used in
Death matches. This was later canned because of
the game crashing when GB Cameraized skins were
trying to be loaded. Later, when PD for GBC was
announced, it was reveled that it would use the
Transfer Pak. This is not needed to beat the game
but just makes it easier to get some cheat
options. Originally PD was supposed to be the big
game last Christmas but about a month before it
was released it was delayed to April 11, 2000;
and then May 22, 2000; and then finally a day
later to May 23 2000. These delays were made to
put the Perfect into Perfect Dark. Yesterday PD
was finally released to the world and I picked up
my copy ASAP. Being a big fan of Goldeneye I had
high expectations. When I finally put the game in
I was amazed by the quality in the product that
was much better than GE's. I won't get into that
because Daniel will have a review up soon. Easily
one of the best games of all time and FPS fan, or
even a fan of Goldeneye will most definitely
enjoy.
