| March 7, 2003 I don't have too much time so I'll make this quick.In about ten minutes I need to hop on my bike, peddle downtown and meet my Mom at work. We are going to look at the sponge market and various art galleries and she may find something she'd like for her birthday which is next friday. Then we are going to get some chinese dinner. I won't have much time though since I am babysitting tonight at eight o'clock, which she doesn't know yet. I think my dog is sick. I am worried about him. People tend to forget that dogs and cats get the flu or the cold just like humans, and that its really no different..and even though I understand that I am always sad to see him sick. I miss the little man wagging his tail and greeting me or anyone who walks through the door. I am repressing (unsucessfully) the urge to complain about this opressive heat! I hate how people from the North (which the people of the keys are..nobody here is actually from here) try to put on airs about living in colder weather, as if it is somehow noble. Try living in ninety degrees without air conditioning or a breeze because it is blocked by the sky high condos that are built along the beaches.. and see how you like it. There is nothing noble living in hot or cold weather, I just think people see tropical areas as the easy way or something when that is not the case. At least up North you have heaters and breezes and whatnot. Here I am either way to hot or I am freezing to death when I go to a public place that uses air conditioning. I think we are the only people on this entire key who don't use the stuff. I just remembered writing last night..thinking about what Bush would unveil at the press conference. Silly me. Guess I proved to be optimistic afterall; I really thought he would back out of war. What was I thinking? Of course he wouldn't do a thing like that! That would make to much sense! I should probably go. I'll try to put in some time on this site over the weekend but seeing as how I work every night and have various other things to do I am not so sure that will happen. We'll see.
