| March 22,2003 I dreamtd of war. And not war as we see it, not the images we are bombarded with on CNN or MSNBC. Old-fashioned war..men on horseback equipped with full knight's armor. The thing that suprised me was that I was more distraught when a horse was killed than I was when I witnessed men being savagely slaughtered. I've always been that way, though. Even when I'd watch old westerns as a child I would cry for the horse but never for the man. Probably because the horse did not volunteer to be put in that position. It did not knowingly go into war, intent on killing..it just served its "purpose" and chaeffered some man around on its back..which had to be exhausting and uncomfortable. And God forbid it would go slow..that would be cause for a good whipping. I am stranded at home this Saturday morning. It is an odd feeling to be left without my bike. My mom is at work and my Dad took my Aunt to town..all one bikes. Sure I could take the car..but I had planned to go to old town where the roads are narrow and the parking spaces are few..pedestrians rule the land and there is just no room for a car (even a little Daewoo like mine). Maybe I will take the car, park at school, and just walk to my destination (being the bookstore and probably Subway)...sure it is a good hike but I am perfectly capable. I'll have to remember to take some water or something though. This heat is so oppressive and freaky it dehydrates you without you even knowing it. You can probably see that the Ted Bundy movie was nothing to rave about. If it was I probably would have either 1) mentioned it first thing, or 2) used it to kick start my "movie review" section. I've done neither which is an indicator of how dull the movie was. It did not inspire me to write anything..it did not stir any emotions in me whatsoever..I thought it was strange that it focused on Ann Rule to the extent that one did not even know the details of Ted Bundys TWO escapes from jail. If you watched that movie knowing nothing about Ted Bundy then you came away with little new knowledge...for a person that didn't wish to know about Ted Bundy, however, I think it would probably make an okay movie. I didn't like its vagueness on him though. I don't care about Ann Rule's relationship with him, which was totally twisted too. In reality (just read her book) she was a mother type figure to him. She was older..not attractive..it sounds mean but it was reality..there was no romantic vibe between the two of them. The movie had to cast a young pretty woman to play Ann though, and that changed the whole dynamic. It was just a disappointment. I spend the two hours doing math homework anyways...so it wasn't a complete waste. Billy Cambell was okay as Ted but I still think that was shotty casting. They needed someone more chameleon-like..more swauve, hansom, charismatic..that is why the fact that Ted Bundy was such a monster is so fascinating and startling. He seemed so normal. Something completely off the subject: the thing that greeted me today as I got my breakfast together was a picture in the newspaper of a person wearing a black t-shirt that read "satan is a nerd." On the same person's hand was written "Jesus loves you." The article went on to describe how Christianity is evolving and "repackaging" their religion so it appeals to goths, skaters, et cetera. Isn't that ridiculous? Isn't that totally contrary to the entire concept of faith? I thought you were supposed to truly believe no matter what..not only if it was presented to you in a "hip" way that didn't make you look lame in front of your peers. It is so stupid that the church sugar-coats their stuff just to get it to these stupid teenagers. I bet the teenagers only go these events (which include pro-skaters and rock bands) because they know their parents will allow them in the "name of God." It is like for the kids that aren't quite cool enough to make it in the real scene. How pathetic. They'll go to Hell! Just kidding. I don't even believe in Hell. I'm writing this fairly early, so as I've said in the past there is a chance I'll add to it before the day is out. Doubtful but possible. Back |
