The Kunos

Tatewakae

The Blue Thunder of Furinkan High, as he calls himself, Kuno seems a formidable
opponent at first.  He is tall, dark, carries a big stick, (called a brokken which are wooden
practice swords) and only speaks in Shakesperean prose.  However, he seems worse than
he really is, as Akane defeats him in battle almost every day, and proves to be not much of
a challenge for Ranma.  (And he got to be captain of the kendo club how?)  Kuno dislikes
Ranma from the start for acting too casual with Akane and living in her house.  A rivalry
begins, but a rivalry that soon dies out as Kuno becomes somewhat of a comic relief.
Torn between two girls, Akane and Ranma-chan, Kuno spends most of his times thinking
of them and how much they love him.  (Dont worry, its all in his head.)  Pictures of them
are framed and hanging on walls around this room.  Kuno is the only person in Furinkan
High who doesnt know about Ranmas curse, which is kind of funny since he hates
Ranmas male form.
Kunos family is a littleinsaneHe lives with his sister, Kodachi, and his father, the
principle of Furinkan High.  Kodachi seems to take after him, although she is a bit more
morbid than he, they share a love for dramatic speech.  His father is odder.  He arrives
back from Hawaii thinking he is Hawaiian himself, and vows to cut all of the students hair
alike and in American styles.  He humiliates poor, little Tacchi on several occaisions
by exposing pictures of him as a little boy with a HORRIBLE haircut.
Overall, Kuno would be a real pain to go to school with, but you have to have a certain
fondness towards him becauseHES JUST SO PATHETIC! ^_^

Kodachi

Kodachi, "The Black Rose", is the sister of Kuno and therefore the daughter of the
Furinkan High principle.  However, this doesn't get as much of the spotlight as Kuno for
she goes to a different all girls high school (why?).  She is even more forceful than
Shampoo by way of winning Ranma.  She uses paralysis powders and gases, then throws
herself upon him.  She's a bit more morbid than Kuno and seems to like dark colors (Well,
the whole black rose thing kinda gives it away).  She has a high pitched evil cackle for a
laugh... are you getting the image here?
She first encountered Ranma when Akane injured herself and could not participatein the
rythmic gymnastics competition.  Ranma-chan was the only one left to do the job.
Unfortunately, Kodachi was his opponent, and she kept sabatoging him before the match.
However, when she runs into the male Ranma, he is trying to protect Akane and Kodachi
falls in love.  (Excuse:  It's lonely at an all girls school!)
She is quite an interesting character (she has a pet alligator I beleive) but soon fades into
the backround once again.

Principle Kuno

If anyone on Ranma completely gets on my nerves, its him.  His main motivation in this
story is to cut little boys and girls hair American style.  You see, he just got back from
Hawaii and loved it there.  Now he wants to make Japan more like Hawaii.  HE talks in an
attempted Hawaiian accent (cohm here, my little papayas!) and is never seen without his
precious Hawaiian shirt.  As an American, I dont find this degrading at all, just not as
funny as some other of Ranma 1/2s characters.  Anyway, he wants to use his power as
principle to cut all of the boys hair buzz-cut style and all of the girls in a short bob.
His long-lost son, Tacchi turns out to be Kuno and a really funny picture of him is
shown (ya gotta love Kuno).  He doesnt seem to even have any interaction with Kodachi
at all.  In fact, come to think of it, Why DOESNT she got to Furinkan High?!  Maybe
shes just the black sheep of the family (and the black rose, hehe.)
However, Principle Kuno CAN be nice.  He put alot of time and effort into teaching
Akane how to swim, and he even sewed for her!  Yeah, I guess hes sweet.
