| One Ship I'd rather be a ship that sails the roaring seas to ride the waves wild and free than ever be the fearful ship that fails to leave her port and never know the freedom of the open sea i'd rather feel the sting of love and the gales of my inner heart than settle for a useless life in the dry dock of the poor i'd rather fight one mighty wave in honor and in truth than fill my future grave dying lonely on the shore i'd rather fight one stormy sea than be the ship so frightened and never see new shores. ~fini~ love you........ | Indian Summer/Harvest Moon Harvest moon, cool brisk nights Flannel jammies, woolen socks Cuddling in woven blankets Shadows dance to candlelight Rivers smooth as looking glass Reflecting falls rising sun Fire red, tangerine against A blackened velvet scene Geese singing the ancient song Nature titled "Migration Calls" Proclaiming the grand announcement Change is coming, change is near Leaves falling without a sound Carpeting earth for winter's blast Still we have but one reprieve Indian summer is yet to leave. | Never Thought Never Thought I would think of you throughout my day, feel my heart flutter as clouds drifted along their way. To remember your phrases in the faces of tulip cups, then hear you heart pound in the trickle of a pond. Never Thought We could walk a winding forest path, then watch the eagles soar like feathers in the wind. Then touch the softness in the gentle wild dogwood. To rest upon a fallen tree, and listen To nature play her majestic symphony. Enjoying life at it best, with a simple smile. Never Thought I could walk along the cool ocean shore, collecting seashells from the salty sand. Watch the tiny sandpipers scamper on their way, eat a gritty hot dog, share a lemonade. Then laugh like children lost in a world of play. Never Thought We could travel and experience a dream. Have you hold my feet while the Blarney I kissed. To laugh and do a simple jig in the Irish Pub, shed hot burning tears in the Fields of Athenry. Waltz through old castles, then wade the Irish Sea. Never Thought I would tell you how much you mean to me. To tell you of your gentle heart, and what it does to me. To say I desire to see you, want to caress your rosey cheeks, to caress your hands, and say all I need. Never Thought I would ask for a simple photograph, to put your tender words to the sweetest face. O'I know your image, it is painted on my heart, to ever draw upon in the days of deep drear. Never Thought I could say "I love you" to one I never met, but I find those words so appropriate, for truly we have met. I see you in the warming of the morning sun, and hear you daily in the music birds have sung. You are all around me in the words you ever pen, for all comes to life in you quill and ink. Never Thought I could say, you are with me everyday. Even when I dash in the busy to and fro. For tucked ever neatly in the pocket of my coat, your words travel with me, no matter where I go. You words once given is my daily delight, you travel with me, both day and night. Never Thought I would say, We are something more than friends. EL |
| PORTRAIT In the depth of the night When sleep should overcome Thoughts now drift to a Face I long to see. A Portrait I will paint from The words my heart contains To then become the canvas Surrounding my soul. I need not the canvas My heart sees you well The starving of my humanity Desires the visual aid. Not To accept, or to reject, but Rather, where my eyes do Wander, I shall recognise thee. I am not a beauty, my body Weather worn, this heart Is much different, truly Still new born. So my dearest one, Just to let you know Your place was secured Oh so long ago. EL |
| Unconditional Love Together alone in the solitude of your peace Saturated, drenched in the quietness of grace Captured by your mystery, lost in your love Content this moment here in this place. Love, bubbling now coming forth Reflected in the eyes of your truth Tears, droplets of devotion, trickle gently Realizing you know my love is genuine Your body strong, yet submissive Protects, guards giving room for me to be me Unconditional your love, establishing boundaries Containing my intensity, allowing me to be free |
| Walking with serpents, flying with eagles Safety is found in the arms of your love Teach me to see beyond the moulting of feathers Being my grace the day I should die Sharing our vow, committed to one another This love has withstood all tests of time We waltz today, guaranteed of no other Thank you Steve for ever loving me.
