Unleash Your Secrets

Chapter Nine

‘Brutal Truth’

Jaye awoke for a second time, her vision was blurry.  She felt like she had a hangover, the whole feeling was all too familiar from when she had woken up in the room earlier.  But this room, when her eyes focused, was larger, and more lived in.

The walls were unfinished as well, but had maps of different places.  There was a small TV in the corner with its antenna poking out.  Two miss-matched couches were in the middle of the room, on either side of a cluttered coffee table.

Under the largest map, there were three desks forming a half circle; they were cluttered as well.

With a head ache, Jaye closed her eyes and took a nap.

Jaye stirred to find whispering and someone slapping her face gently.  She snapped her head up, and glared at the tapper, which was the Braid.  She attempted to smack him, but she couldn’t move her arm, or the other, or her legs.  She looked down to see that, not only was she tied to the metal chair that was bolted to the floor, she was also double handcuffed on each limb.

Jaye’s arms had been tied down with rope at the sides of the chair.  Her hands were handcuffed to the chair, and also cuffed to a huge weight.  Her legs were tied with rope to the legs of the chair.  Also handcuffed to the chair and a weight, were her ankles.  Jaye’s stomach and shoulders were tied tightly with the rope to the back of the chair.  They apparently didn’t want her to get loose.

While she was analyzing her hold, Maxwell sat down next to Trowa.   Wu-man, she saw, looked a little ‘beat’; he had a bandaged head, and was leaning against a package of ice behind his head, and back, and another bag of ice was sitting on his lap.  Other than that, he looked down right angry.  Wu-man was sitting next to the blonde man, but some distance away from him.

A non-familiar face stared hard a Jaye.  He had pulled up a computer chair, and had his own laptop on his lap, with Jaye’s smaller one sitting on top of it, open.

“You are smarter than we expected…”  He said, slowly shutting her computer.

Hmph…”  Jaye grunted and distastefully turned her head.

“Fine.  Completely understandable.”  He stood up, and slowly walked toward her.  “You were trained to not show emotion…be the ‘perfect’ soldier…” he stopped about two feet to her right.

She looked up at him.  “What the hell are you talking about?”

The blonde man started to speak, “Do you think they…” he broke off.

“Yes.  It’s obvious…”  He replied.  “She has the skills of an agent, yet has no recollection of who the hell an agent is…”  He explained.

“Then what do we do?”  Asked Braid, blinking.

“Be nice.”  The standing man with the messy brown hair grunted, as if it would be hard for him to do.  The others gaped at him.

“Wait, Hee-dude…you just said to… ‘be…nice’…?”  The braid asked the standing one.

“Can you not hear, Maxwell, you idiot?”  Wu-man said agitatedly.

Wufei…” the blonde started, but was interrupted by a beeping coming from the unfamiliar man.  He appeared to be their leader or something, Jaye noticed.  They were all either asking him something, or waiting for him to ask them.  But then there was the blonde man, too, she saw.  He was almost acting equal to the leader.  Perhaps he was the second-in-command.

The standing man raised his arm and looked at his watch, which was alertly beeping.

Suddenly he hurried away from Jaye and grabbed his coat from the couch and his laptop and ran out of the room.

“What the hell was that about?”  Jaye asked.

The door opened, and the man stuck his head in.  Trying to see around the brown shaggy hair that had just fallen in his face he said, “And yes, I said be nice.”  And he promptly shut the door.

“Well, you heard the man…Be. Nice.”  Jaye stuck her tongue out.

“Honestly, Heero is getting more secretive everyday.”  He blonde man stated.

“Yeah ever since Relena went into hiding…”  Maxwell agreed.

They fell silent for a second, and Jaye furrowed her brow.  She only knew of one Relena. “Are you talking about Relena Peacecraft?”  Jaye asked, intrigued.

“Yeah, they’re talking about that bratty girl…”  Wufei rudely replied.

“What do you mean?  Is she still alive?”  Questioned Jaye.

Maxwell spoke, “Yeah, she had to hole up because a family member of hers was supposed to ki--…”  He cut himself off after noticing the others pouncing on him to get him to shut up.

“What?!”  Jaye couldn’t believe it!  The girl that had come to her WAS the Peacecraft girl!  “Oh, my God!  Who was going to kill her?”  Jaye knew that she was to be assassinated, by their reaction to Duo’s almost comment.

The guys had finally sat back down.  Slowly turning his head to face her, Trowa spoke, “You.”

Jaye stared at him in silence.  She slowly shook her head and her naturally crimson eyes watered.  “No…I couldn’t have.  I didn’t even know her!  I’m just a normal person, I can’t kill…”

“We should tell her about herself…”  The blonde whispered to them all, who nodded in response, though Trowa and Wufei barely nodded at all.

“I’m just a simple computer service woman!  How would I do that!?  It’s impossible!!  You’re wrong!!!”  Jaye disbelievingly turned her head away from them again, fully crying.

Trowa walked up to her and huddled down at her eye level, “How do you think you got out of the room and fought off Wufei?”  He asked reasonably.  The other three stared at him as he talked her through to see the truth.

“I…I don’t know…I’ve always been able to do things I haven’t been taught.  I don’t think about it…”  She sobbed more, but less and less tears were falling.

Right about now, she would be trying to wipe away the tears, trying to make it not as noticeable, but her arms were tied and she couldn’t, so she started crying harder, and hung her head.

“…Your faction trained you to kill…Relena is your aunt…”  The blonde man joined in, but stayed on the couch.

Trowa took his hands and placed them on her face, “But you didn’t kill her…She went into hiding, faking her death…”  He wiped away her tears with his thumbs.

“No.”  She shook her head away from his hold.  “Leave me alone…”

Nobody moved.

“Leave me alone!” she just learned that part of her life was a lie.  What else could be a lie about her?  Was her childhood with Bubba and Dee wrong either?  Had her friends known?

“Jaye…”

“LEAVE ME ALONE!!”

Lets leave her be…”  The blonde one spoke, persuading ‘Braid’, Wu-man, and Trowa to slowly leave her to contemplate.

Thirty minutes following their departure Jaye cried herself into a sound, dreamless sleep, after staring at the hard concrete floor for hours.
