San Diego March 17-19, 2001
DAY 1
I got checked in around noon, and Adrienne and Bobbi picked me up to go out to lunch with them, Jeanine, Bren, Heidi, and Jean.  Bobbi and Jeanine were staying at BSB's hotel--still don't know how they found out (this was before that post with the info), but I suppose HOW isn't really important. Later Jennifer and her mom Janet were kind enough to pick me up and take me to the concert. We also met Adrienne, Bren, Kel, Lisa, Heidi, Jeanne, and Terri (my partner in crime!) at the concert. I sat with Heidi and Jeanne at the show since our seats happened to be in the same row just a few numbers apart (gotta love the fan club).
My favorite moments of the concert:

#1 Howie was talking after LTL, asking if everyone had B&B, blah blah blah, you all know what he says. It was March 17th so he went to say Happy St. Patrick's Day but instead said Happy Thanksgiving without even realizing it! LMAO It was hysterical! The other guys started making fun of him and he was cracking up and all embarrassed. It reminded me of that part from BSB Diary where he made a comment about being in Sweden when they were in Australia (or something like that). Then it became a running joke throughout the show so by the end they were wishing the audience Merry Christmas and Happy Easter.
I guess you had to be there, but trust me, it was really really funny. Poor Howie!

#2 Someone handed a pair of blue women's underwear to Kevin when he got close to the audience during SMTM. While AJ was talking right after that song, I saw Nick gesturing to Kevin about something (NO BAD THOUGHTS!). Sure enough, about a minute later Nick and Kevin walked over to AJ and put the underwear on his head. And not just resting on top of his head, they full on stretched it over his head so his face was sticking out one of the leg holes! LMAO  And AJ just kept right on talking.
It was so funny! I took a picture of it, but it came out really dark.

#3 At one point Nick and Kevin were bantering about something, I think before The Answer to Our Life when they're talking about their charity organizations. Then Nick interrupts with something like, "It's St. Patrick's Day. Can I pinch anyone who isn't wearing green?" Um, right over here baby!
PINCH ME PLEASE!!!  That boy has to watch what he says or he's going to give me a heart attack!

After the show we all met back up at THE hotel. We wanted to eat, have some drinks, and maybe see some Boys. As Heidi, Jeanne, and I walked into the hotel restaurant/bar, some BSB dancers walked in behind us and sat at the table next to us. Good sign! At first they wouldn't let us order food, but then the dancers wanted food so they let us order too. How nice of them. (yes, that is sarcasm) Just as the waiter was putting our drinks on the table, Terri whispered, "Nick's here." I turned around trying not to seem too obvious (yah right!), and there was Nick standing about 10 feet behind us near the dancers' table. OH MY GOD!!!!! *thud*  He was wearing a black beenie with white stripes, a big baby blue t-shirt with the sleeves cut off (ARMS!!! I COULD SEE THE ARMS!!!), and dark warm up pants. He looked absolutely adorable,
but of course I always think he looks adorable.  And he was smiling a lot, tons of big, silly, sexy smiles. :)

He eventually made his way around the dancers' table so he was standing like 3 feet away from us. Luckily I only ordered a Coke because I chugged it I was so freakin nervous! My whole body started shaking. A bunch of us are Nickaholics and we just didn't know what to do with ourselves. Bobbi, the voice of reason LOL, said that we shouldn't approach him or take pictures because #1 he was with Marcus (I don't know why),
#2 he probably wanted to be left alone, and #3 we didn't want him to leave.
So we just sat there, freaking out on the inside but *trying* to stay calm on the outside.

Nick eventually sat down at a booth so we couldn't see him anymore. :( But then in walked Howie! :) He made the same rounds as Nick, saying hi to all the dancers and working his way closer to us. I made eye contact with him, and he was smiling so I smiled back. At one point Terri and I got up the nerve to ask for an autograph (since someone else in the restaurant had), but the bodyguard got in our way
and I don't think Howie even saw us. Then he went to Nick's booth too and sat down out of sight.

So we were watching, waiting for them to come back into view. After a little while, Nick got up to play pool at the only pool table in the place. It was all the way across the room from us, but we could still kind of watch him. So we watched and watched and watched and watched. Poor guy, like an animal in a zoo. I felt kind of bad... but not bad enough to stop.  How often do I get an opportunity like this?! I couldn't NOT look!
He played pool for a solid 90 minutes and it seemed like he was having lots of fun, looking totally silly
and child-like, just the way I love him. Nick and Howie even played against each other once,
but I'm assuming Nick won because Howie sat back down and stayed at the booth the rest of the night
(I have "Nick vision" so I wasn't really paying attention to Howie after that, no offense).
Nick did keep looking in our direction though (probably because we were staring!)
and I think we made eye contact. That's what I keep telling myself at least. LOL

At one point Bobbi got up to smoke and had to go out the patio which just *happened* to be near the pool table. Heidi and I went out with her for a few minutes and got a good view of Nick bending over the pool table. ;) As we were going back inside, Nick came walking around the pool table in our direction. He stopped right in front of us, like 2 feet away at the most, and was looking in our direction, but I totally froze!
My whole body stopped moving. He turned back around to the table about two seconds later, but I was dying! He was right there and I froze! Not that he wanted to talk to me or anything LOL, but still!
I suppose a close encounter with Nick is better than none at all.

Terri and I were freaking out because we were so close being in the same room with them, but we didn't want such a great opportunity to pass us by without doing SOMETHING. I thought of asking if we could play pool, wishing Howie a Happy Thanksgiving LOL, asking Nick if we could pinch him since he wasn't wearing green, or asking Nick if he would pinch US because we weren't wearing green. But of course we couldn't do any of those things. So we decided to buy Nick a drink. We had our waiter find out what he was drinking (a midori sour with vodka BTW) so we sent him one. When the waiter brought it to him he seemed confused. He kind of looked in our direction, so I waved and smiled, but he didn't acknowledge me.
He just took a sip, put it on the table, and went back to playing pool.

Then finally Terri and I decided that it was silly to stare at him from across the room when we could stare at him from a few feet away. LOL There were a bunch of other people standing around the pool table, so we went to join them. We watched from close range for I'd say 20 minutes, cameras in hand just in case but trying to stay out of the way. At one point Nick bent over to take a shot right in front of us. Perfect view of the booty! *thud*  I'll have that image burned in my mind forever! Completely and totally pinchable! :)

Around 2 am it was time for the place to close and we could tell that Nick seemed to be ready to leave. Terri and I tried to cut him off as he jetted for the exit nearest the elevators, but we ended up right behind Marcus, who was right behind Nick.  Nick seemed tired and/or drunk and was definitely in a hurry. As he walked to the elevators, Terri asked, "Nick, did you enjoy your drink?" He looked at us weird and I said, "We're the ones who sent you the drink." He was signing an autograph for some little girl who had been waiting outside the bar door for him to come out, and he kind of whispered, "Shhhhh, hold on." He gave the girl a hug (hate her!), got in the elevator, and mumbled "I'll be back" before the elevator doors closed.  DIS #1  SO CLOSE!!! And no pictures or anything because I was too focused on trying to talk to him. I can't talk AND take pics at the same time! LOL Does that count as a conversation? I talked, he responded, sort of.
It's more than the one word "Thanks" I got from him in Vegas at least.

Disappointed, Terri and I turned to go back into the bar and there was Howie coming out of the exit right in front of us. Terri asked if we could get his autograph and he said "Sure, if can you follow me." Um, no that's too difficult.  DOY!  So we followed him to the elevator where he signed an autograph for Terri.
Then I handed him my Black and Blue cd cover and my silver pen, and get this--
THE PEN DIDN'T WORK!!! He tried like 3 times, you can even see
the imprint of the H and the D on the cover, but no ink! I kind of sighed, "AW, it's not working,"
and he said "I'm sorry, you'll have to catch me again some other time" and then got in the elevator and left.
How depressing is that?!  Finally having an opportunity to get a BSB autograph, and the pen doesn't work!!!

We figured that Nick's "I'll be back" line was bogus, so we decided to leave but meet at the hotel again the next day. I had/have mixed feelings about that night. On one hand, I can't believe I got to watch Nick and Howie just being themselves for 2 hours. Few people have that opportunity. On the other hand, I wish I would have gotten an autograph or a picture with them or just a picture OF them at least.
But still it was a great night. I couldn't even sleep because I kept thinking about Nick. I went to bed after 3 am and woke up at 6 am with the image of him playing pool in my mind. *sigh*
