Blonde Boy Adventure Part 2
Las Vegas June 16, 2002
First, a couple minor details I left out of part 1...

Aaron's full band performed with him at Wango Tango but not in San Diego. O-Town's full band (including Tommy Smith, who is suing Nick and BSB) performed with them in San Diego but not at Wango Tango.

At the end of NTYNTO at WT, Nick kissed Aaron on the top of the head. Major  "awwwwww" moment.
And now the saga continues...

LAS VEGAS -- SUNDAY JUNE 16TH -- KISS FM SCHOOL'S OUT THROWDOWN

Debi and I had purchased pretty crappy seats for this show off the internet a few weeks before, so we went to the venue box office the morning of the show to see if we could do any better. We did -- not great, but better -- 100 level row P in the section next to the stage on the left side. (the Nick/Jacob side) While in line to buy our new tickets, we met a girl who told us Jane Carter had been spotted at the Bellagio hotel the night before, so Debi and I checked it out. Nada.

Yet again, Debi and I never went to our seats during the concert, however this time we at least stayed in
our own section the whole time, just closer than row P. This was the smallest concert of the three we saw --
only 5 acts with O-Town as the headliner. When we got there we found out that Aaron (featuring Nick)
was going to be the first performer and O-Town was the last.

Aaron again did his 5 song set without his band just like in San Diego, but he switched Aaron's Party and IAAY. And this time he was wearing a white wifebeater. *thud* I swear, he's not 14. Jane lied. After Bounce, Aaron said that they had driven there that day in a van but that someone who was supposed to be with them wasn't there. Then he said, "Wait a minute" and he went toward the side/back of the stage and said, "Are you there? Are you gonna come out?" Enter Nick wearing all white. Nick said, "You brought me all the way out here, now what are we gonna do?" When Aaron didn't respond, Nick said, "You wanna just sit here and chill?" and then they both sat down on the stage and just kinda looked at each other like "now what?" It was adorable, trust me. So then they did a little contest -- which side of the arena was louder -- and then went into NTYNTO. Adorably entertaining as always. As the song ended, Nick turned to Aaron and said, "Not bad for a rookie" and then ran off stage. Brothers! lol  Other highlights of Aaron's set: IAAY sounded pretty good,
nasally but no cracking; he did his not-14-year-old body roll for "your body activates me" right in front of us, thank god he didn't lift up his shirt this time or I'd be dead; he DID strip his wifebeater off in front of us
at the end of his set. No further comment or I'll end up in jail. lol

After Aaron left the stage, one of the radio station djs came out and started talking to fill time between performers. Before we knew it, NICK was on stage helping co-host. That man is just too adorable for words. He poured water on the crowd, first from his own water bottle and then from the dj's water bottle. When the dj said he'd pay $11,000 for Nick's water bottle on ebay, Nick got all serious and said, "You love me that much?" and hugged the guy, pretending to cry through his giggles, major cuteness. The dj started talking
about how it was hot and said, "It's getting hot in here" and of course Nick responded properly by singing, "So take off all your clothes." When the dj asked the audience if we wanted Nick to take off his clothes, Nick started to unbutton his shirt. *THUD* But then he stopped and laughed and said he'd save that for a tour. *fanning myself* As the stage was being prepared for the next act, Nick said the three mics looked like a set up for the Supremes, then he started kind of "doo wop" dancing and sang "baby love, my baby love."
Again, major cuteness. The dj was wearing a Tennessee Titans football jersey, so Nick asked him what was up with that and told him that HIS favorite team was the Bucs. When the dj started going on about the Eagles (this guy is originally from Philly I guess), Nick turned away and said, "I'll see y'all later" like he was going to leave. Then finally they announced the next performer, Paulina Rubio, but Nick called her Paula. lol Dork!

After Paulina Rubio's set, the same dj from earlier came back on stage and called for Nikki, one of the station's other djs. Of course, Nick, being the goofball that he is, came out on stage too. When the girl said, "You're Nick, I'm Nikki" he responded, "No I'm Nicky!" He called himself Nicky -- very very cute. :)
Then Nikki started talking about how she liked Nick's sexy short haircut, and he said he just had it cut that day (this is AFTER Wango Tango, so it's even shorter now). She asked him to turn around so she could see the back of his hair, but she proceeded to look lower, A LOT LOWER, and when Nick turned back around to her, he kind of raised his eyebrows and said, "She was checking out my booty!" Well who can blame her! lol Then Nikki said, "I want to see if you shave your chest" and opened up Nick's shirt,
revealing one of his new tattoos to the OTHER side of the crowd, not us. *pout*
Nikki was kind of oooh-ing and aaah-ing over Nick's tattoo and he got embarrassed, so adorable.
Then Nick said that he was leaving, thanked them for letting him participate, and away he went.

Continuing on with the concert, since O-Town was the headliner, they actually got to perform a long set -- an entire hour -- which was a really nice surprise, and their full band performed with them again. They started out with Every Six Seconds then moved on to Liquid Dreams. The choreography for both of those songs is VERY thud-worthy. Hips, thrusts, floor... *fanning myself again* They also sang Baby I Would (with Ashley on the keyboard), We Fit Together, All or Nothing, Love Should Be A Crime, and Trevor's solo Getting Jiggy With It, as well as 4 new songs: From the Damage, Over Easy, American Game, and I Showed Her. Their whole performance was awesome, I can't say enough how much I love the new rock-style songs, really really great, a good move for them I think. They also said SEVERAL times that the new cd would be out later
this summer, however, now it's been pushed back AGAIN to October 1st. *sigh* They like torturing us.

The show was over around 9 pm, and that's when the REAL adventure began. :D

As Debi and I walked to our car, we saw the typical small crowd of teenagers gathered near the performers' entrance. We re-parked the car in a good "get-away" position then got out to see what the commotion was about. Within minutes we saw the members of O-Town and their girlfriends (yes, Shelli and Janie were there, as well as Dan's girlfriend) loading into a shuttle bus. After taking some quick pics of the guys and mental notes on the licence plate of the shuttle, Debi and I went back to our car, ready for the pursuit to where ever O-Town was headed. In true stalker fashion and along with a dozen or so other cars, we followed them
on a short drive back to their hotel. Debi, driver extraordinaire, didn't run a single red light! lol

O-Town's shuttle bus stopped in the valet area of the hotel, and Debi told me to get out of the car and see what was happening while she figured out how to get the car valeted. Within seconds I was surrounded by O-Town. Jacob was in front of me, Dan was to my right, and Shelli and Ashley were approaching from behind. It was an O-Town whirlwind!!! I tried to get Jacob's attention a couple times, saying that their show was awesome, and he finally responded by waving and saying thanks before he walked away. Ashley and Dan were preoccupied when they walked by, so I didn't try to talk to them. Erik soon passed by too, and I had a repeat of the situation with Jacob. All of them went inside the hotel EXCEPT ASHLEY. For some reason he and Shelli hung around outside talking to some other people that they knew (I speculate that they could have been Shelli's parents, but really I have NO clue at all).

After a few minutes of just gawking at Ashley, I finally decided to approach him when he kind of separated himself from the group of people he had been standing with. I said hi and told him that I was from the San Francisco Bay Area, and immediately we had a connection. Our conversation went something like this:

As I was attempting to regain my composure to try to look for Debi, who was still SOMEWHERE with
the car, a couple approached me and asked if the person I had been talking to was from Making the Band.
I told them yes and explained the situation with the radio station concert. Then the woman said,
"Oh you know that... Nick Carter... the little one..." and I said, "AARON?!" and she said "yeah...
we saw him here earlier today." *GULP* I was like, "Oh that's cool" and on the inside I was freaking out thinking that O-Town MAY have led us to the Carters, IF they were still there.

I found Debi valeting the car, and I filled her in on my conversation with Ashley and what the woman said about Aaron. (although Debi doesn't remember me telling her the Aaron thing, I think she was on O-Town overload lol) We headed into the lobby to check out the situation and eventually found a couple other
O-Town fans near one of the elevator areas. (there were two sets of elevators and we didn't know which
ones were the "right" ones) In the lobby I also spotted the people Ashley had been talking with earlier,
so we figured that he was bound to come back eventually. We didn't have to wait long. :)

A few minutes passed, and Ashley and Shelli walked out of the elevator area to where we were standing.
Debi asked Ashley for a picture, meaning a picture OF him, and he said sure and got ready for a picture
WITH her. Bumbling fool that I am, I took a while to figure out what to do with the camera,
so Ashley stood waiting with his arm around Debi. *shiver* Then it was my turn for my picture.

Funny thing is, he was TOTALLY smiling when he was talking to us, but he didn't smile for the pictures. They came out looking like he was in a bad mood, but really he was TOTALLY friendly,
a complete sweetheart. *sigh* Oh well, I guess he doesn't like to smile for pictures.

Sorry, have to cut it off there... more blonde boy adventures still to come though --
the ULTIMATE blonde boy in fact. *sigh*
More later...
Ashley: San Francisco, that's not too far from where I grew up. [winking at me]
Me: [in shock] I know.
Ashley: So are you just here visiting?
Me: No, actually we saw you guys in San Diego on Friday [a smile spreads across his face as I'm talking]
and we were at Wango Tango yesterday...

Ashley: That's awesome! Thank you.
Me: The show tonight was the best though, the whole hour-long set...
Ashley: Thanks. [moving closer to me] We're dealing with not having our own equipment
[moving still closer] so you have to come see OUR show.

Me: I know, but you're not coming here! You need to come to the west coast.
Ashley: Later this summer. This summer for sure.
Me: Ok, I'll be there! Thanks Ashley!
Ashley: [waving and smiling as he walks away] Bye!
Me: [in my head to myself] OH MY GAWD!!!!!
