Kansas is the Sunflower State. This pattern is as old as the hills. Well, maybe not the Flint Hills. As the name suggests, early Kansas history was difficult. Perhaps this quilt pattern name refers to the Jayhawker raids in 1855, or simply the everyday hardship of life on the prairie.
