Scene where Natalie puts the girls through their paces in the alley.
Elsewhere a witch deflects a warlock's fireballs and seems to kill him, but then he appears behind her. He gloatingly explains that he has been killing witches for years and taking their powers, one of which is the ability to clone himself; which he just did. He kills the witch and takes her power of deflection. The witch's female Whitelighter arrives too late to save her and the warlock taunts her by saying he will see her later, then vanishes.
Back at the manor Piper is expressing her frustreation at still being on probation when the same female Whitelighter twinkles in. Leo introduces her as Natalie and explains that they have been friends and colleagues for some time, first serving together in World War II. Natalie tells Leo, Piper and Prue what has happened and how dangerous the warlock is now that he can deflect their powers. It becomes immediately clear that although Leo and Natalie have a good understanding (which makes Piper a little jealous) they also have very different approaches to their work: Natalie is very much "by the book". In an attempt to hide their conflict from the sisters, they begin to converse in Whitelighter language, a series of clicking sounds only they can understand.
Phoebe meets Reece in a Diner and slips the potion in his coffee when he isn't looking. He starts to gag, but blames it on allergies. He tells Phoebe the results of his inquiries so far: Cole is a fraud who joined the DA's office under false pretnses and has a dark side - he tells her bloodstains were found on Cole's carpet and a search of his apartment revealed a cache of occult paraphenalia. Reece questions Phoebe and senses she knows more than she's letting on. He assumes that her reticence is due to her fear of Cole.
Back at the manor, the others are checking the Book of Shadows and identify the warlock as Eames. They find that among the other powers he has gained by killing witches is that of transmogrification. Natalie annoys Piper by trying to take charge, but in private Leo justifies her actions to Piper and tells her that Natalie has a lot of influence in Whitelighter affairs. Phoebe walks in in the middle of this discussion. Meanwhile Prue has located Eames by scrying for the dead witch's power. Natalie has the athame that Eames used to kill the witch and when Phoebe holds it she has a vision of Eames killing a man she takes to be a witch.
While Natalie returns to the Realm of the Whitelighters for instructions the others ignore her advice to be cautious and go straight to Eames' location. When the man from Phoebe's vision appears, Leo identifies him as a Dark Lighter. As Leo twinkles away, Phoebe kicks the Dark Lighter's crossbow out of his hands and Piper freezes him. Eames appears and sets him on fire, taking his crossbow and sarcastically thanking the Charmed Ones for their help before disappearing.
Back at the manor Leo and the girls are puzzled as to why a warlock would kill a Dark Lighter and why Eames had no interest in attacking the sisters. Natalie returns to tell them that the Elders want them to hold back as they think the man in the vision may be evil! When she learns that they ignored her initial advice she becomes angry with Leo. They are called away by the Elders and we see them both in the Whitelighter Realm where Leo has chosen to remain in civvies instead of donning one of the white monk's habits that all the others are wearing. They argue about the merits of the Charmed Ones. Natalie thinks they are sloppy and uses Belthazor as an example, saying that he should never have been able to get so close to them. Leo receives a call from Phoebe and is pleased to use it to end the argument before it gets too heated.
In the privacy of her room Phoebe confides to Leo that Cole/Belthazor is still alive. He doesn't take the news well and storms out of the room. In the hall he doubles over with pain and when Phoebe asks him what is wrong he says he is feeling the pain of a witch who needs help.
Sure enough, we see Eames in a park stabbing another witch. He tells her that he doesn't want to kill her, he just wants to lure her Whitelighter there. Back at the manor, Natalie has returned and tells everyone it is a trap. Eames is planning to kill the Whitelighter, take his power and thereby gain access to their Realm where he will kill all the Whitelighters with the crossbow. All Whitelighters except Natalie and Leo have been grounded and the Elders have instructed that no one should go to the witch's aid. As time passes and Eames realizes no Whitelighter is coming, he kills the witch.
As the girls start to dicuss their course of action, Leo surprises them by announcing that, at his request, Natalie is taking over as their Whitelighter. He feels his personal involvement is clouding his judgement and putting them at risk. Phoebe worries that it is her confession that has unsettled Leo. Leo leaves and Natalie is in charge. The sisters aren't keen on taking orders from Natalie until Piper points out that her marriage to Leo may depend on them not upsetting Natalie.
Natalie's emphasis is on preparation and she puts them through an intensive training camp in an alley. Then it's on to P3 where the girls work on a spell to vanquish Eames while Natalie formulates a risky plan which involves using herself as bait. The main aim, she says, must be to get the crossbow off him. Destroying Eames himslf is a secondary consideration. They set themselves up in the park by the dead witch, Eames arrives, Natalie twinkles away, the girls combine powers to get the crossbow and Eames disappears. All according to plan and all a little too easy for the girls' liking.
Back at the manor a happy Natalie is holding the crossbow when it turns back into Eames himself who deflects the girls' powers, stabs Natalie with an arrow, then disappears taking her with him. The Charmed Ones call Leo who has a plan but one which he admits breaks a lot of rules.
Eames kills Natalie, takes her power and enters the realm of the Whitelighters. He shoots the crosssbow at the first Whitelighter he sees. It is really Prue, she removes her hood and deflects the arrow. Piper freezes it and Phoebe kicks Eames into it so that it stabs him. As well as taking on Natalie's power he also took on her vulnerability and Prue informs him that the poison on the arrow will be lethal to him. However the Charmed Ones don't feel like waiting. They cast the spell they prepared earlier; sending Eames up in flames. Leo appears and congratulates them.
The girls are winding down at P3. Piper tells Phoebe that there is a message from Reece on their home phone saying that he needs to talk to her about Cole's case. Piper waits anxiously for Leo, but when he arrives he has good news. In recognition of the Charmed Ones' efforts, Leo and Piper's probationary period is over: they are now officiallly engaged.
Full Storyline
Phoebe is looking forward to her meeting with Reece Davidson with trepidation. Thinking it must be because she suspects he may be evil, Prue gives her a potion which will cause Reece to choke if he is a demon, giving her time to escape. However Phoebe had not even considered this possibility and her nervousness leads the others to think she may be hiding something.
