In the 13th century the Black Plague swept through England and when it was
over 11 out of every 12 people were dead! In Europe in the 16th Century the
Black death again swept across the land leaving death in its wake. In
revewing the story of William the Conqueror and the mystery of the "Doomsday"
book, I have come to the conclusion that William's story is one of lies
engendered by expediancy, and the ignorance of modern historians. In many
ways it is like the story of Moses. The first errors became compounded into
a history that is untrue. A study of the Doomsday book led me to realize
that something very strange was going on in merry little England at the
time of the Conquest that could not be accounted for by Williams conquest.
I believe that a plague of terrible dimensions was the cause.
The following book is the result of those studies.

CHAPTER ONE.
PRE CONQUEST HISTORY
I know what your going to say! Not another book on William! Havent we had
enough books on that old story? Yes, we have. So Ill tell you right now
that this is not another book going over the same old ground. In fact I
am going to shock the historical community by saying that they missed the
boat completely on poor old William. They have been suckers for his
propaganda ploy. He lied to the world completely. He never conquered
England because it had already been conquered-by a plague. After 20 years
of research I feel I can present enough hard evidence to back up this claim.
I have spent the last 50 years of my life researching mans history and
during that time I have come across many anomalies that have intrigued me
and put me off the course I was on. Williams history was one of those
anomolies. As I pursued my original course I also gathered data on William.
I first stumbled onto the truth about him by a stupid error. I had picked
up a book on the 14th century plague that swept across Europe. I knew about
the 14th century plague, as I had read the Decameron of Boccaccio at the
tender age of 12 years (by mistake). When this other book wrote about the
deaths in England, for some reason I cannot fathom, I mixed up my dating
and related it to the time of the Conquest, saying to myself, for heavens
sake, no wonder William had an easy conquest, everyone was dead!
This stuck in my mind and irritated me whenever I read small bits on that
subject. Finally I went back to the library and got the book out again and
realized my mistake. I felt like a fool of course, but the concept stuck
in my mind. As I began to read whatever books I could on William I began
to realize that most writers were rehashing old ground from previous
writers and just giving more pedantic versions of someone elses work. In
fact it was amazing how florid some writers could be on a subject that had
little basis in reality.
I finally came across a book that detailed all the proven or known facts
on the conquest. Unfortunatly that author also followed the usual line of
accepted history. But he did give me a clear basis from which to work. When
I began to follow the conquest with the concept of a plague having swept
the land everything began to fall into place. Actions that didnt make sense
before became clear. That left me with only one problem; the plague itself.
Was it an impossible concept? Could there have been an unreported plague
that swept the land? In the last few years there have been some marvelous
books come out by writers who have recorded a history of this world that
is not in the usual history books. They gathered this knowledge in the
pursuit of U.F.O.S in our past. One of them has reports on many unnoticed
plagues from Roman times to the present day. So, yes! There could have been
a plague in England at the time. What nature of plague I have no idea. But
I do not feel that is important to the story of Williams conquest.
I do not expect this book to be the difinitive answer to his story. I see
it as a clue that other more aggressive historians will pursue.
One thing you cannot do is reject it as a silly idea. There is not one
thing in this book that is not possible. And what is possible is also
probable. Nor can you refuse it on the grounds that I have no degree in
History. I would remind you that knowledge is knowledge and I have read
some pretty stupid theories put forth by men of many degrees in my
lifetime.
While this is not a history book, we still need to know who the players
are before we can proceed with the detective story. Below are the bare
bones of the cast. For in this mystery story events take the place of
actors at times. Each one is more detailed in the glossery.
