MU! A TALE OF WHAT ONCE USED TO BE

Hush, my child and listen to me
While I tell a tale of what used to be
When the world was young and man was free;
Of a land that blessed the deep blue sea.

Through the mists of time Ill take you far,
On a journey to a distant star
And a Planet in a losing war;
The one they called, Fair Melicar.

Hush, my children while I tell
Of the fate that to our race befell,
When our king knew we werent doing well
He had his Wizard cast a spell.

Upon our race the Wizard cast
A spell that for an age would last.
And in that time wed journey fast
Across the void; the stars flew past.

We spied a Planet out in space,
A haven for our saddened race.
Sunlight shining on its face.
This Earth became our landing place.

Still locked within the youth of time
This Earth was then in lovely prime.
Its air was sweet as new made wine.
And round its belt we flew in line.

Our world had never been so dear.
Our air had never been this clear.
And we had always lived in fear
Of other worlds that were too near.

In looking for a place to land
We searched the continental strand
And set our ships upon the sand
Of a mighty Isle; we made our stand.

This Isle became our cradle true
And on its plains our cities grew.
Our young were born and never knew
That there were other worlds than Mu.

Now hush my children, gather round,
This tale has now a happy sound.
In happiness their young did bound
And play with every bird and hound.

On tiny wings theyd soar and float,
Blown like dust from every slope.
Gay and giddy, full of hope,
Their goal; a drifting golden rope.

Another game a child would play
Was watch the woolly clouds of May,
As on a painted barge he lay,
And floated in a soothing way.

While dreaming build a castle fair-
That he had made from clouds with care.
Then wonder at it floating there
So dazzling in the sky blue air.

Our young, in freedom never known
By parents in their native home,
Could rove a world or stay at home
And watch the sea crest into foam.

Could build a craft that in its time
Beneath the waves was meant to reign.
Where seaweed for our food theyd mine,
Then skyward in the sea would climb.

Or stretching wings upon a frame
Of light wood that could take the strain,
Set off like clouds before the rain,
Then arcing high drift back again.

In time wed settled everywhere,
For all this world was truly fair,
And nothing harsh disturbed the air
Or made us weep in dark dispair.

The centuries sped swiftly by;
Ten, in the blinking of an eye.
And Mu did all the wonders try
Beneath the sea and in the sky.

Conquered was every wonder known.
(Even the atom they had blown)
The Ruby Laser we had shown
Could heat Lemurias every home.

For our protection out in space,
Strange belts our Wizard set in place.
Its radiation would hide all trace
That underneath lived a -master race!

Such folly thus our people shames.
Ignoring God who makes the game.
A mighty wall of water came,
And wiped us out - in all but name.

Now hush my children, go to sleep,
and in your hearts a memory keep,
Of little ones lost in the deep.
Remember MU in eternal sleep!
