THE LEGEND OF KING ARTHUR
I came upon the first record of Arthur in a set of books written in
the 19th Century by John Timbs, called, "Abbys And Castles of England
and Wales."
The manuscript of the story of Arthur was found in the 11 century, The
rest is history as they say.
When I became interested in this history and I decided that I would
write about it, I drew up a list of those points that made it unique.
1. The name PENDRAGON.
2. The strangeness of Arthurs birth and name of Arthur.
3. The setting of Mt. Snowdon in conjunction with the red and white
dragons.
4. The magical sword EXCALIBAR.
5. KNIGHTS
6. ROUND TABLE
7. The mystery of the celebration of MAYDAY and his sexual encounter
with his sister resulting in his son MORDRED. (MORT-DRED?)=fear of death?
8. Quest for the HOLY GRAIL
9. THE ISLE OF AVALON
Those seemed to be the key ingredients to this remarkable story. And so
I began.
The first thing I noticed was the area in which the record was found.
This was the North East area of England, between Wales and Scotland.
Why there? It was far from the area of the Arthurian Legends of the
English. Yet its placement between Scotland and Wales would lead to
great discoveries during my research. At the time when this story was
found in the 11th century no one had ever heard of Arthur! There is no
record of the story of King Arthur before the 11th Century. This would
have been at the time of the invasion by William the Conqueror or soon
after when men's hearts were heavy and looking for something to boost
their moral. They knew all about Merlin though. That story came to them
via Wales.
The first problem was solving the riddle of when Arthur took place.
A riddle that has baffled many minds, since there was no known record
of Arthur in England before the 12 Century. In looking at my list I
realized there was only one word that may carry a clue to the date;
Knighthood! When, why, how and where did Knighthood begin?
When; Thanks to the book; "Holy Blood, Holy Grail", we can trace it to
the time of the Cathars in Spain, around 300 AD. This was during
the Roman occupation of England. There were no knights in England
during that period! There were only the Roman Soldiers.
What then was knighthood all about in Spain? It was about romance,
chivalry, heroism, and in some strange connection; Christ. All of
this was reflected in the Arthurian legend. How then did I connect
that with the British Isle? By looking towards Scotland! I took a
second look at the history of the Roman occupation and everything
fell neatly into place.
I realized there was only a short time span when Arthur could exist of
about 50 years plus or minus. If it was connected to the Cathars or
Albegenses then it had to take place sometime between 250 AD and 400 AD.
When they were safe from the power of Roman Catholics and before the
Church began its pogroms to destroy the Cathars. This tied in with the
Roman occupation of England.
In studying the Roman occupation of England I began to see that it was
a hard won area. They did not occupy all of England until at least
250 -300AD. This meant that the Northern area of England was not under
Roman rule for quite some time. Same with Wales. And history to the
contrary I dont believe that Wales was Totally under Roman rule even
if they claimed it so. And Scotland was never all under Roman rule! That
meant that the story of Pendragon and Mt. Snowdon could have taken place
without the Romans or British knowing anything about it. Also there
would still have been commerce and movement between Wales and Scotland
at this point, via land or sea. But what about contact with Spain?
That was solved by the route the Scots have always taken to bypass
England: Scotland to Holland or Belgium and overland down the coast
to Spain.
Since the Romans never totally invaded Scotland and built the wall across
England to cut off the Scots, there was no record of Pendragon or
Camelot if it was situated in Scotland! That would also explain the
ambiguous presence of a FRENCH KNIGHT at Camelot. He would not have had
to go through England to get to Scotland at all!
By the time Rome pulled out of England, Knighthood was established in
Europe and Scotland where it eventually made its way into England.
Jousting was also part of Knighthood but was unknown during the Roman
occupation of England. Nor was it part of Roman behavior at that time.
At least there are no records of it that I have read about. I believe
that it came over to England long after the Romans left. It was a time
of great upheaval in England as every tribe fought for supremacy or land
after the Romans pulled out. And they were not interested in Wales or
Scotland at that time either when the History of Camelot would have been
well known still. By the time of the discovery of the story Camelot was
long gone.
Having solved the riddle then, I moved on to Pendragon. The British in
the 12th Century when the story was discovered would have been quick to
equate the name of Pendragon to their connection of St. George and the
Dragon which was in Vogue at that time. In fact this is a really strange story. It is supposed to be so British and yet there is no real story to
be found about it on British ground! The real story takes place somewhere
in Romania or Hungary. The St. George who was British and honored by them
was during the struggles of the early church in palastine and Alexandria
or shortly after and he was located in what is now Turkey. He was also
a despicable creature and had nothing to do with Dragons.
So where would the name Pendragon stem from? It sounds more Welsh than
British. The name Dragon and Worm is found all over Europe and England.
And it is usually given to towns on rivers and was associated with
some form of huge terrifying creature that inhabited the river systems.
There are some interesting stories involving these worms in England.
They sound like some form of sea life that grew to enormous size that is
not known of today. If some of them were referred to as Dragons by the
peasants it would not be surprising. What the meaning of pen is, is
any ones guess. It could refer to a dragon that was penned but I doubt
it. I believe it is old Welsh.
It is my belief that when the British began writing about Arthur in
the 12th century, that they melded the stories of Pendragon and Merlin
and Mt. Snowdon onto the Arthurian legend. At a time when they were
just coming out of the Conquest by William maybe they needed something
to bolster thier pride in things British again.
The Conception of Arthur is of course right out of todays alien
abduction scenarios isnt it? We either have a good case of hypnosis
or a lady who fooled around and needed a good story to explain her
pregnancy, so I wont even go there.
It never made sense to me that Lord Pendragon had a castle in Cornwall
or Devonshire in Britain and was building another in Wales at Mt.Snowdon
where the scene of the two dragons fighting inside the mountain takes
place. I feel that he belongs in Wales. A place that, from the time of
the Romans until the Battle of Bosworth field, was an unrecorded history.
As was much of Scotland. In todays world the distance between the two
sites is not a big deal with cars and trains. But this took place in a
time when you walked or rode a horse to go anywhere. Distances were great
and hazardous. I believe his Castle was on the upper Welsh coast somewhere.
As to the name, Arthur that sounds to me more Welsh or Scottish than
English. Having compiled the names of all the British Kings of those days,
(see my British History site.) and up until Alfred the Great, most of them
are more Norse than British.
The setting of Mt. Snowdon at the upper end of Wales brings the whole
story closer to Scotland than to the British area of Camelot down at the
bottom of England. I believe it was set there by the British after the
12 Century in order to tie it in with the mystery of Stonehenge and as
an explanation of how it came to be. Which as we know now predates the
story of Arthur by many centuries.
I do not believe that Merlin was part of the original story, but was
added later. However that does bring us to the mystery of the Sword;
EXCALIBAR. Without it there is no story of Arthur. And because the
whole story revolves around Excalibar we are going to have to deal
with it. And I am going to stick my neck waaaaaaaaay out on this one.
Either the story of Arthur is a hidden mystery story dating from the
days of secret societies or it is based on facts turned into mysteries.
Whatever the truth is, Arthur isnt the central theme. EXCALIBAR is.
And Excalibar reaches from the dim past into the future! That is where
the words; Once and future King, come into it. For woven into the
story is the concept that at some time in the future, Excalibar will
come to the rescue of a future king. When I realized that, I came to the
conclusion that before this time no one could have unlocked the secret
of King Arthur. Only in these times is it possible. And that is because
a number of events have taken place. I will list them.
1. Sitchen wrote a series of books on our creation.
2. We invented or reinvented the laser.
3. We invented or reinvented space travel which enabled us to realize
that there may be other races besides ours in this universe.
What does that have to do with Arthur? Everything. There is evidence
and artifacts out there that prove a far more advanced race inhabited
this earth at one time, but only recently has our science come close
enough to recognize that possibility.
In reviewing the story of Arthur there is no mention of how long the
sword was imbedded in the stone. In fact there are two different stories
about the sword. One claims it was imbedded in a large rock. Another
that it was imbedded in a form of alter that housed the stone. And while
it was called a sword, that does not necessarily mean the kind of sword
we are familiar with. How could a real sword become imbedded in stone?
If it was a sword that was imbedded somehow in magma then no one could
have released it. However, if it was some form of advanced weapon from
an alien or earlier advanced race, then the implication that it could
only be released by the right person, the future King, then what we are
looking at here is metal that is encoded for a special genetic touch!
Sound fantastic? So would t.v. to someone in the middle ages. There is
another story going around that Arthur recieved the sword from the
"lady of the lake".
Information has recently come to me of the existance of a secret tunnel
in the mountains near me that was made by the Anunnaki over 7-8,000 yrs
ago. Access to it is via DNA. This is probably the answer to why the
susquach of Canada and the bigfoot of the USA can travel all over
unhindered and why no bones of dead ones are found. They use these
underground tunnels. One of them was discoverd in South America that
goes for miles.
If the sword is not a real sword but a form of laser wand then its
properties make sense. A genetic line would then be in tune with it.
The fact that Excalibar was invincible did not appear to need skill to
use it. But it represented and gave power to its owner- Arthur.
The fact that Arthur was connected to Knighthood, chivalry and the search
for the Grail connects him to the Cathers of Spain. A strange connection indeed, but not impossible. And also has echos of the stories of the
Ring"! We spend our efforts searching the Middle East and Egypt for
answers to our past when the real answers may lie in the tales of Europe,
Scotland and Ireland.
The creation of Knights by Arthur did not have as much to do with war as
with a concept of good deeds done, romance, courtesy , honor, and
gallantry. An odd but real kind of reflection of the true teachings of
Jesus before Paul altered it into his reflection of the Temple worship
and rules. Never forget that Paul was a high official in the Temple of
the Hebrew faith, where he enjoyed the fawning respect of the masses.
Thats hard to let go of.
They would have had to have commerce with the Cathars in order to know
about the Holy Grail. The thing is though, that if Michail Bagient is
correct in his interpretation of "Sangrail" meaning Holy Blood, then the
Knights of Arthur could not have had access to the secrets of the Priory
de Sion. Only a confused knowledge maybe. Not an unheard situation really.
But enough to create the concept of Camelot, and the concept of the equality
of the Round Table which was no small matter for those days. A king
equal with his subjects! It was unheard of at that time. This alone would
set Arthur apart.
Now we come to the real interesting part of the story; his sister Morgana
and his son by her, Mordred. And the celebration of Mayday.
The Mayday rites in England go back to the beginning of their history.
To the time of the Druids before the Romans or Christianity. It has echos
in all cultures. Even the Catholics couldnt stop it. A day of revelry
when all rules are forgotten and none held accountable for their actions.
A form of Bacchanal of the ancient Greeks in a way. It also has echos
in Arthurs story, of Sitchins story of the Anunnaki who bred with their
sisters to keep the line pure. At least all the Kings did. Echos of this
existed in Hawaii also. I have even wondered if this is a strange echo
from an even older age when the "Green Man" existed. His story is very
interesting.
As King of Camelot, (Scotland?) Arthur would have led the revels as the
Stag. An animal that ruled the forest. Also the symbol of majesty and
fertility maybe? In that guise and drunk he mates unknowingly with his
sister. (but someone set this up !) And here we have an odd mixture of
innocense and guile. He did not know it was his sister, but someone did!
Which takes us back to his strange birth by Pendragon, (was he a shape
shifter?) or do we have the first record of an alien abduction? ( I am
assuming that the reader is well acquainted with the entire story.) For
it seems that someone wanted a pure line of descent in the same manner as
the ancients had where brother and sister were mated to keep the line pure.
This incident resulted in the birth of Arthur's son Mordred.
So what we have here is a strange connection to so many facets of ancient
history that intrude into the story of Arthur.
There are only three last details to comment on. 1. The Lady in the
Lake. 2. The future of the sword. 3. The Isle of Avalon.
When Arthur is mortally wounded he instructs his knight to throw it in
the lake, and it is caught by the hand of a woman known in the story as;
The Lady of the Lake. A very mysterious personage. In one version she is
supposed to have mended the sword for Arthur. At some point she tells
him that it will come to the aid of a future King.
What we have now is information from the future! Throughout the history
of this earth we have many records of ancient beings who knew our future.
This is not new. Unknown to many these days, but not new.
Arthur being carried by fair maidens to the Isle of Avalon, does
not really fit the story. However, just off the southwestern coast of
Scotland lies a small Island that contains the greatest number of kingly
bodies in all of Britain.
One of the great misconceptions of history has been caused by the
propaganda ploy of the British, that the Scots were an ignorant,
heathenish race, in order to justify the take over and destruction
of their land when they destroyed thousands of acres of mountain
woodland for two reasons; 1. To destroy the forests they hid in and
which sustained them with food and shelter from the British. 2. To
give the British huge grazing lands for sheep for their now burgeoning
wool trade.
There is an additional oddity to the tales of Arthur. When the British
took him for their own they used it to weave into the original some of
their own mysteries and fables from the past. One of which was the
"Green Man", who became in their tales a knight of mystery. The Green
man is a mystery that comes from Persia and is older than the story of
Moses. Ancient tales of him claim that he flew from Ancient Ur to England
and back often. That he was called the "Green Man" because he had
something to do with creating plants for food. He was also known of in
the very ancient land of Bahrain, in the Arabian Peninsula which was the
breadbasket of the east before the time of Moses.
