I should have mentioned that this is a cabbage cook book! When I was first married we did not have much money and so I learnt to cook a lot of
hamburger dishes and cabbage dishes. These are the best from those lean
days.
The thing that puts most people off of cabbage is the fact that it causes
gas. This does not have to be the case. One of the best side dishes can
be cabbage if it is done right. Shred the amount of cabbage you want to
use, then drop that into boiling water for 2-3 minutes, then drain that
water off. In a pan of melted butter gently steam and fry the cabbage.
