I�ve been chasing after rainbows,
Arcing phantoms in the sky.
I�ve been dreaming dreams of glory,
Seen them fade away and die.


There are those who scoff and mock
The simple fool they say I be,
Little knowing in my dreaming
I�m the only one who�s free.


I don�t bake the bread for others,
Please forgive me if you can,
But we�ve never lived by bread alone
Since our world first began.


You need me. Don�t deny it!
For I show you what can be,
Long before your minds are ready,
by the visions that I see.


Someday you�ll walk the rainbow
That I have dreamed for you,
Not knowing how I wove
Each color and each hue.


My dreams may fade and perish,
But I don�t really care,
When I know that you�ll come after;
Build my dream-climb one more stair.
