King and Crowned by Ealred, Archbishop of York. He is now HAROLD II.
=HAROLD consecrated by Stigend. He is in his early 40s.
1066AD =JAN 6TH TO 16TH, sometime here Harold goes to York.
=JAN 16th, At this point in time W.T.C. had recieved the news
of Edwards death. He was at Rouen.
=JAN 30th, England cut off from Europe and all other lands from
Jan . 30th or Feb. 28th. No contact with outside world.
NOTE; This information is very important historically as this
isolation of England lasted until the invasion of WTC! In other
words the rest of the world was in the dark as to what was going
on in England. Especially the Church which was not receiving its
monthly tithes from England which consisted of much gold.

1066AD =April; Comet in the sky for 15 days.( or 7 nights)
=April; William held a meeting of all the Barons, to announce
that he would sail in force to England that summer.
=Harold was tall and handsome.
=May; Tostig raided the Isle of Wight.
=Tostig, as a result of rebellion, driven out of his Earldom
of Northumbria. He invaded England with the Norwegian King in Sept.
(Harold Hadrada)
=?Early Summer. William recieved the Popes blessing to wage a
holy war against England, and the Excommunication of Harold in early
summer. This news did not reach Harold until the Battle of Hastings.
(the reason the church excommunicated Harold was because they were not recieving their monthly wagonload of gold and silver from England) = Aug. The King of Norway took York and the North in August.
= Aug. At York, after Hadradas initial victory, he has 3-4
leasurly days feasting. NO WORRIES! Why? He demands 500 men as
hostages to be surrendered at Stamford Bridge. He and his men would not
enter York. Why? He was at RICCOL, 8 to 10 miles from Stamford.
=Sept. Ships driven by wind to St. Valery. Were the ships lost
and their crews buried in Secret?
=Sept 8th, The food ran out for Harolds army and they were
allowed to go home. Why? They were in an area of the greatest
farmland at harvest time?
=Sept. 20th, Edwin and Morcar, Harolds brother-in-laws,
defeated South of York at the Battle of FULFORD GATE.
=Sept. 20th, Harold suffering from a violent pain in the leg(?)
=Sept. 24th, City of York surrendered to Hadrada who were
drawn up on the far side of the River when Harold arrived at Stamford
Bridge.
=Harold offered Tostig a chance to avoid battle by offering
him a third of the Kingdom.
=Sept. 25th, The Battle of Stamford Bridge; Hadrada and
Tostig were slain. The whole army were either slaughtered, or taken
prisoner and burnt.
=Sept. 27th, W.T.C. ships embarked.
=Sept. 28th, William lands on English soil at Pevensy.
=Harold left York and arrived in London in six days, having
covered 190 miles.
= Oct.13th. Friday. Harold reached Hastings. Word got out
to his men that he was Excommunicated. ? what would cause them to
think that?
=Oct. ? A message was brought to W.T.C. from Robert
FITZWIMARK that Harold had fought and won over the Vikings and
was bringing a huge army.
=Oct ? 2 or 3 days later another messenger from Harold arrives
by a monk. Both sides argue their claim to Kingship.
=Oct. 14th. Battle of Hastings. Harold killed by an arrow in
the eye. (Also slashed by swords by Norman Knights.) Both William of
Malmesbury and Henry of Huntingdon wrote on the battle. Only Henry
reports the slashing of the already mortally wounded King.
=At this battle William commanded his bowmen not to aim
directly but to shoot into the air.
=?? The writer, David Hawarth wonders what kept the men with
Harold after their two months were up? This was unusual.
= One of the horsemen was said to have hacked of Harolds leg.
His body when found could not be recognized by his face, but only by
tokens.
=His body was said to have been buried on the shore. Also at
Waltham Abby. His brothers Gyrth and Leofwine perished with him.
=Oct. 14th, Waltham Abbey. When Harold was there before the
Battle of Hastings he bowed to a silver encased stone statue of
the "Holy Rood" and it bowed its head in return and remained that
way ever after. This "Holy Rood" was found before, buried on
a hilltop.
1066AD =HAROLD is said to have been killed at the battle of Hastings,
and interred at Waltham Abbey.
=HAROLD offered up prayers for victory at Waltham Abbey
before the Battle of Hastings.
=Oct 14th, Saturday. Harold was slain at Hastings. His body,
by the mediation of his Mother Githa, and two religious men of
Waltham Abbey, called Osgood and Ailric, having been obtained of the
Conqueror, (who, for some time, denied it burial, affirming that it
was not fit for him who had caused so many funerals.), was, with
the bodies of his two brothers, slain at the same time, brought to
Waltham Abbey, attended by a small dejected remainder of the English
Nobility, interred.
*Harolds tomb was situated at the end of the Church, at the distance
of about 40 ft. from the termination of the present structure. It
was plain, but of rich, grey marble, and had on it a sort of cross
fleury, and was supported by "Pillarets", one pedestal of which
Fuller seems to have had in his possession at the time he wrote his
History. The inscription is said to have been only these two
exprissive words, HAROLD INFELIX; but Weever gives half-a-dozen
lines of barbarous Latin, which are probably genuine, as they are
preserved in a very ancient manuscript once belonging to the Abbey.
(for more see page 250, Book 1.)

1066AD =A Witena Gemot was held and Edgar (the Atheling), was elected
King.
