Ixnay was released in 1997 and sold over three million copies. This sounds like a lot to me, but compared to it's predecessor Smash (11 million) and successor Americana (10 million) it sold relatively few. What's the reason behind the drop in sales at this point in TO's history? Well, when Smash was released it was given good write-ups from the music press which it rightly deserved. But when it sold far more than any ciritic had expected, it was given bad press. This must have had some impact on people who only got into TO when Smash was released. Also, with Smash having been so successful, it was definately a hard act to follow. But, even though this album did not sell as well as may have been expected, TO's dedicated fans bought it and, I for one believe it is the best album they have made to date.

It is interesting to note that on this album TO thanked such bands as:
Guttermouth, AFI, NOFX, No Use For a Name,Pennywise, Quicksand, Rancid and The Vandals.

As usual, TO relied on The Lunachicks for female vocal support in making this album.
