| This week I have chosen Dirty Magic (track 6 from "Ignition") as song of the week. It's my favourite TO song of all time, and it can make me cry. The subject of this song is not toally clear, but I'll give you my version of it. It tells ths story of a man whose girlfriend is very depressed. She self mutilates (shown by the line in the chorus,"Pull the shaes, razor blades"). Some people think that this refers to suicide, but personally I go with the self mutilation theory. My favourite part of the song is, "Hate you so, love you more, I'm so elastic" because it shows that the man is still in love with the woman, even though she is in such mental pain and that puts a strain on the relationship. Some people have commented that the song sounds like "Come as You Are" (track 3 from "Nevermind" by Nirvana). Personally the only similarity I can see is that theyare both slow with bass intros. Correct me if I'm wrong though. I find this song touching, and the melody is beautiful. Out of ten, I'd give it 9. |
