Stand Inside Your Love

Not to overdo a good thing, Corgan and Iha used tuning schemes other than "C" on the record. For example, "Stand Inside Your Love" is played in standard tuning transposed down one half step (low to high: Eb Ab Db Gb Bb Eb). FIGURE 7 depicts the song's ringing, arpeggiated intro/verse guitar part, which is played by Corgan. Once again, notice the use of open strings in his chord voicings. The "meowing" sounds heard in the background throughout the track were created by Iha using an EBow resonator/sustainer: "James is the one responsible for all things painful in our music," says Corgan.
