Here are some pictures from the last few years. I try to update the page regularly. The newest pictures are toward the bottom.
This is when it all started. May 13th, 1999. Mt. Dora, FL.
Mike and I went to Vieques in Puerto Rico in 2004. Amazing place. So many beaches so little time... and no other people.
Sailing in the British Virgin Islands.
Nilla really liked the suburbs, she got to do exciting things when she wasn't busy taking a nap. Here are a few pictures of her doing her favorite things.
.
This is where Nilla used to hang out before we moved to the city.
At first Nilla was scared to move to the city, but we let her pick out her favorite things from the IKEA catalog and she felt better.
Nilla loves the city. She gets lots of walks.
Here in the big city the trains run, and they run everywhere. This is a train going under a pedestrian walkway. These are the train tracks that are between our place and Soldier Field.
Here a few things that Mike and I have seen in Chicago. Millenium Park finally opened in the summer of 2004. And Mikes favorite sculpture. It is made from old cars. There are three of them that are on the south end of Grant Park on Roosevelt and Michigan Ave.
During the summer we went biking down by the aquarium and watched the boats on Lake Michigan.
During the winter there is not much to do except try to stay warm and take pictures of the animals in the house. They seem to be content but I, on the other hand, am stir-crazy. Snacks (the cat) always finds the warm spot in the house. You can find him basking in a sunbeam our on top of the heating ducts.

The weather in Chicago is so strange. One day it is freezing the next it is sixty five. It was warm enough that we took Nilla down to 12th Street beach and went swiming. We spent the day outside just enjoying the warmth. It seemed that the city came to life... like bugs coming out of the wood work..... These pictures are from the warm day with my new camera.

We decided to go to Florida for the weekend to visit family. We did a few things while we were there. First we went to the beach. We have our favorite place we always go, we were exctied because there was parking. Granted it was only about 63 degrees, but when we left Chicago it was about 20, so 60 almost felt warm and the sun was out. We walked down the ramp where you would usually drive on to the beach, and all we saw was water. There was no beach.
We were just sitting around when we spotted some dolphins off shore. They were jumping and playing. The pictures of them did not turn out great. It was fun to see them though. It had been so long since we had been to the beach just sitting in the sun and watching the waves was a treat.
The rest of our trip I spent around town and at my parents house. I took a few pictures there. We sat outside and watched the birds. We saw many eagles, but they were too far away to photograph. The weather was tremendous, near or above 70 everyday with sun. My mom and I walked around downtown, and took some pictures.

The suffle board courts get lots of use they are in the center of town.
This is from the highpoint in Mt. Dora looking at the downtown.
Suset over Lake Dora from the house.
It is finally nice out. We took the afternoon and went to the zoo.I mostly wanted to see the giraffes. I was very excited that they were out and about.
The camel was pretty gross, we thought he might spit so I took lots of pictures. It reminds me of the "got milk" commercials.
The flowers were great in Lincoln Park near the zoo. There were so many.
Nilla is really enjoying the warm weather, she gets to take long walks. Tired dogs are happy dogs. We take her to 14th street park and she can run around there.
The Blue star auto store is on State street and Cullerton. I used the accent color mode, with blue as the accent. This camera is really cool.
Mike and I love to take Nilla to Grant Park usually we skate there and by the time we get there Nilla is very tired. She likes to drink from her red cup.
Buckingham Fountain.... it was very windy.
Wampum Lake is in the south suburbs, it is Nillas favorite place to play. Great open spaces for her to run around and great flowers too.
She is always very sleepy after she plays.
SNACKS!
In January 2006 we went to Costa Rica. It was amazing. We stayed in little cabins in the rainforest, and almost every afternoon we were visited by monkeys. Everywhere you looked the views were wonderful.
We also had the chance to swim with some pilot whales. This picture is from the boat. We got in the water with them and followed them until they were out of site. They were a little faster than us, more practice I suspect.
Our latest move has taken us to the South Suburbs of Chicago. Slower pace, and very quiet. Nilla likes the house even more than all the walks she got to go on in the city.
Here she has her own creek to run in and can go out more than three times a day. I, too, like this more than the city, I am sure for other reasons than the dog. The snow is much prettier in the suburbs than the city.
Nilla sits for hours outside just sitting in the sun or chewing on sticks.
The Creek
Frisbee in the park
The other day I was just doing stuff around the house, and I happened to look outside. Just outside the window I spotted two deer. One was really big and the other a little smaller. They were just hanging out looking for something to eat. The pictures are not the greatest. I was trying to control the dog and take pictures through our back sliding door. A little blury but it is still pretty cool that they were in our back yard.
There are some other great things in the back yard, too. I am very fond of the squirrels, they are so smart. Squirrel proof bird feeders, I think they just become one more challenge that the squirrels want to figure out.
The stream looks different everyday. We have had some pretty heavy rainfall in the last few days.
Our friends the ducks really like the creek when it is full. They can ride down the current it looks like a lot of fun.
We finally found some furniture that we liked. We went to IKEA. Of course we had to use the not so great picture instructions to figure out how they all went together.
Here is the deer in Butterfield Creek. He was so close. Also a crazy great horned owl. Very Big.
